Pain meds and pregnancy

I have several chronic pain conditions and have been on heavy duty pain meds for years. I have been weaning off as fast as I can as I was planning on getting pregnant next year sometime. However... life throws you surprises and well here I am. I am on methadone and morphine. I'm down to only 5-10mg of methadone and 15-30mg of morphine daily. I am still having pain and need some amount to make life tolerable. However I know it's horrible for baby! Any tips? I also have been off my zoloft for about two months, but I'm starting to feel high and low with all the hormones. Between all that and needing a new place to live and my husband needing work. I'm really stressing! Which again, is bad for baby!

I don't know about the pain meds, but I understand your Zoloft situation.  I was in Lexapro and clonazepam for anxiety before I got pregnant.  Once we got a positive test, the doctor tried to take me off the meds, but I couldn't handle it, so I am back on them....21 weeks pregnant and doing okay.  My doctor actually told me either Zoloft or Lexapro are the safer options if you need a medication.  Don't suffer...you have to keep yourself feeling good to keep your stress levels low for baby.  Talk to your doctor about it...I have a wonderful psychiatrist that I am working with.  Good luck:-)
