Pap smear during first trimester?

I would like to hear opinions on this, maybe I'm just a paranoid ftm, but what are your thoughts here? I'd rather wait a bit longer as I'm only 11 weeks...

Thank you, really puts my mind at ease...I'm just worried about every little thing lol but I would definitely rather be safe than sorry!

Yup, I was overdue for a pap and had a history of abnormal papa followed by normal before having a pap done at my first prenatal apt.  It's routine to have it done in early pregnancy especially if u haven't gotten one in a while.  No worries..

I'm a ftm Mom too and I did it at 9 wks (first doc appointment). After it was over, he said I might have a little spotting but not much, that it was normal. He also said the same thing about sex. He said that any contact with the cervix could cause a little spotting but should be much.

Paps are done in early pregnancy as preventive care! In most cars highly unlikely you have an std or hpv the like etc but wouldn't you rather be sure your healthy down there rather than risk something going wrong and affecting baby?

I had my pap smear the same day as my first ultrasound. I didn't gave it much thought I was a month overdue my yearly check up. Everything was fine I was actually very happy to do it because I knew for sure there was nothing wrong in there if u know what I mean.

Your baby is protected by both the amniotic sac and your cervix, so if you're concerned about the pap smear harming your baby, don't be. If you were to have an infection catching it and treating it early would do you and your little one a world of good.

I scheduled one for my first second OB appt around 11 weeks just to make sure nothing in that arena could be growing and possibly harm baby. No complications at all. Am now 39+1 and impatiently waiting lol. I think a pap is safer than some of the other testd they offer during the 1st trimester but thats just my opinion.

Its necessary because u don't want any type of infection to cause a problem that could have been prevented me personally i get a pap every 6 months

I am waiting but they say it's good to do it I had mine two years ago and it's every 3 years you need to have it done so I get to wait till next year.  If you don't feel right about it you don't have to do it.
