I tried that on my last pregnancy. The doc was going to let me try Vbac. It didn't work for me so I don't think it is true. My Mom said it is because you get an upset stomach to trigger contractions. I love pineapple so I eat it, I don't think many things truly bring on labor, they come when they are ready and we associate things with someone who happened to go into labor using x y or z. Could be wrong, but that is what I think.
I eat pineapple all the time and I'm 38 weeks, with no signs of labor yet. My cervix is still closed, and shows no sign of changing that lol
I ate pineapple almost daily this whole pregnancy. No labor yet. 36 weeks tomorrow.
Ive heard of it causing labor how ever you would have to eat a whole lot of pineapple abd I believe its one of those things that only helps if your body is ready to go into labor.
I heard that pineapple juice is like yogurt it helps fight of vaginal infections but never heard of it causing labor
I eat frest pineapple at least a week and I am in my third trimester. I haven't experienced any issues.
Pineapple will not make you go into labor. Its rumored that there is an enzyme in pineapple that can help soften your cervix however this enzyme is found mostly in the pineapple core and only in minimal amounts. You'd need to eat a lot of cores to even potentially have an effect.
I eat pineapple Chobani greek yogurt and a mixed fruit salad that includes fresh pineapple everyday for breakfast it's my morning ritual with my baby and he loves it as soon as I take the first bite. I don't eat a large consumption just 2-3 slices a day i haven't read anything about eating pineapples and premature labor. In moderation it should be fine if you are eating a whole fresh pineapple a day that might be another story. I have my first 3rd trimester ob apt tomorrow and will ask the doctor then post her response on this blog.
