Pre conception waiting is killing me!

Hi all, new to the forum there is tons of great info here!  My question is about my possibly pregnant wife. I have high hopes that she is pregnant! This would be her second child, and my first (obviously I'm very excited!) I'm not 100% certain how long her cycles are but they are pretty regular. I know her last cycle was on the 30th of August and the previous one I estimated around 28 days as well. so timing wise her ovulation should have been fairly close to my prediction of the 12-14th this month give or take a day. So that said, I've noticed her to be noticeably more fatigued, slightly more irritable, she said she felt like her period was coming a few days ago and I think she may have missed her period (assumed it was going to be Saturday.) we are going to take a test within the next few days (hopefully tomorrow morning before I have to do another grueling 16 hour shift at work...), but my anxiety is killing me!  I'm just curious to see if my nagging suspicious could be a sign of pregnancy? Another thing I noted last night...we were in the mood and I noticed that she has a thicker white odorless discharge. I'm thinking that's not common to her when a period is just around the corner or already around the corner if I'm doing my ovulation and cycle math correctly!
I've been wanting this for a while now, she's a little less enthusiastic about pregnancy due to her situation with my step daughter and raiding her as a single child. I get that, but she has me now and a wonderful family on my side that is more than eager to help out!  We just celebrated our third anniversary and the beauty of all this is that "the day" was the weekend we got to celebrate it and her OD.
Would love to hear some pre-known pregnancy stories just to keep me feeling positive!
BTW, I'm very medically inclined being a highly trained paramedic so I'm more adapt to notice these small things. Plus I love kids and can't wait to share this experience with my wife!
Thanks all!  I'll also post back results, wish us luck!!!

Those are good parents you have. I think i used and EPT test when I did mine and both lines showed up right away. Being pregnant is so exciting but dang does my little man tire me out and i have 18 weeks left. And the baby brain is just unreal, I swear my son has made me stupid lol!!!

Now you guys gotta figure out the gender reveal, thatll be fun!!!

Its a beautiful thing!  I had a horrible experience early in my career that haunted me for a while, something that took me a while to accept as nature's course. I really don't want to get into what it is but trust me its better left at that, if you really want to know PM me about it!  When they teach EMT's and Paramedic's "Emergency Childbirth" the only emergency part about it is the emergency in the  EMT or Paramedic's mind!  I only get nervous if theres a reported complication - Previa, Abruptio, Breech and Neuchal Cords can be a concern too but thats an easy fix and a you better push like theres no tomorrow!....Emergency Medicine in an uncontrolled atmosphere is so unpredictable, but I think thats why I like it the most, theres no routine, you never know what good or bad things you will see and be a part of!

Thanks everyone!  We did use the EPT digital test.  It took less than 30 seconds to come back!  After a long talk after work yesterday....we decided to tell my parents....I know its early to tell people, however my mom was planning a vacation and also possibly has to have her knee replaced and she was planning the vacation already (hadn't booked anything yet). So we decided to tell them last evening.  IT WAS EPIC!!!!!!! And I caught the whole thing on video!  She just retired and has been a huge help with my stepdaughter.  What we did was pretty cool as she had no idea what she was about to see.  We took the test (obviously cleaned it very well lol) and put it in a necklace case and then wrapped it up like a present.  I told her that we wanted to thank her for all of her help and the wonderful things that they do for us and we had smoething "small" to give her. She was confused and said wait till christmas. W told her we wanted to give this to her and we know she would like it and it was less than 20$  So she opened it up, stared at it for about 5 seconds before she realized what it was and she went absolutely NUTS with excitement lol.  My poor dad was sitting by her "saying what is it?" and she screamed "We're going to be grandparents!!!!" it was beautiful, I'll never forget it, I have awesome parents, they actually bought us a pool this past summer because my mom wanted a pool but their yard is on a hill and luckily we have the perfect yard (plus a lot of it!).  They are always giving us nice things and last night was just awesome!  I've never seen someone happier and that reaction!  Thank you all for your kind words and congrats!

Its such a wonderful thing but man my little one (im 22w) is making me run for my money! Fortunantly I have an amazing bf who helps me out a lot and reasures me when Im feeling down or fat. Just a note for you, always tell your wife how beautiful she is and that when she says shes fat tell her no youre just pregnant!! My bf does that to me all the time and it helps knowing that even w a growing belly he still loves me!!!
P.S. Im an EMT, wish I lived where it was more possible to deliver a baby!!!

Thanks everyone!  I'm usually really good with helping others as a life style, it's day in and day out for me! I'm not so used to helping myself at times. My wife is a veterinarian technician and loves her job. I got to talk with her on lunch break and she told me she's staying away from the X-rays and such today but trying to not hint around to her best friend so we can plan telling everyone on our terms!  I have some awesome ideas! I have that "climb the mountain and shout" thing going on. My mother and I spoke earlier about other things like work step daughters cheer yesterday...and strangely enough she brought up about wanting to hold a baby and I had to bite my lip and kick the dog lol. I'm more than ready, and so is our family both sides!  I've even so much as said I'm looking forward to the late night craving for peanut buster parfaits from Dairy Queen and back/body rubs whenever she wants!  I've delivered a few children in my exciting career, and I know how wonderful that "first time seeing your child" look a parent gives their new one. My thing is I believe that this exciting adventure will result in a beautiful little us that grows us that much stronger and in love!
Definately excited!!!!

The discharge, sore/achy breasts, fatigue, mood swings, crying, nausea, head aches, her dog if she has one. These are all pre missed period signs. The dog may seem odd, but mine has known before a test could tell with all four of pregnancies. Best of luck, your wife is lucky to have someone interested in the entire process.

I was mean and tired and that's how my husband knew before I even thought about it. He was so excited when it came out positive and went to work and told everyone he saw. Lol

Bless you! Men usually have to be nagged about ttc and the women do all the worrying..its lovely how much you want this baby! The discharge that you mentioned actually was one of the first signs I noticed when pregnant this time..coupled with nausea in the evenings..was very tired too..hope that everything turns out well for you!You deserve it :)
