Pregnancy beyond 40 weeks

I have seen women post on here and they are beyond 40 weeks. One woman was 43 weeks and still didnt deliver. Could the due dates be wrong? I dont really understand how you could be pregnant that long. Im 39 weeks and my baby is almost 8lbs. The longer Im pregnant the more she is going to grow. Is it healthy for a baby to be in the womb well beyond 40 weeks? Please someone explain so I can calm my nerves.

I have a friend whose baby girl was born at 43w2d zero complications or issues. Just about 8lbs and yes she knew her dates for certain, she and her hubby were ttc and she tracked her ovulation and got a bfp before 4w so she knew it for sure. Babies can go past 42 weeks without being in danger as long as they're being monitored properly. There was nothing wrong so neither she nor her midwife saw induction as necessary and they were right!

No doctor will let you go past 42 weeks...my 1st child was born at 42 weeks exactly, i went into labor the night before my scheduled c section, your baby is full term by now, you can always ask your doc to induce labor because an 8+ pound baby is no walk at the park, good luck <3

Due dates can be wrong..  And yes it is healthy for babies to be in there past 40 weeks.. dr knows he will induce if baby is getting too big.. My sis went past get due date both times.. I've made it to 39 weeks the first time and 30 weeks the second.. I would of prefered 40 weeks over what I got.. dr will decide if baby breed to cone out.. I've never heard of 43 weeks though

Yes it's healthy, the average gestational period for first time mom's is 41 +3. Due dates are estimates, not expiration dates.
