My cervix length has been at only 8mm for 5 weeks now. It hasn't changed and I am only going on 33 weeks. So sometimes it can changed quickly and other times it can stay very short for a long time.

Your cervical length measurement they gave is actually a very average length (I've been forced to learn a lot about the cervix, due to having an incompetent cervix, and going through complications and preterm labor due to mine). Average cervical length is generally 3-4 centimeters, so you've got a good length. I do believe that the cervical ultrasound (which depending on the doctor who will manually examine you with their fingers will vary on their findings) but being told an average length, it could mean you haven't started to efface yet. Then again, it depends on the doctor when they actually examine you with their fingers, I've been given so many different percentages due to my cervical effacement, I don't even know what to go off of now lol. I'd ask at your next appointment if they feel you've effaced at all, or dilated, you're 37 weeks, you have a right to know, and some doctors won't tell you unless you ask, they must not feel you'd care to know or something lol. Congrats to being so close to the end!

I just had my ultrasound and my cervix length is 1.5 cm and I'm 36 + 3.  I would probably go soon, but I'm being induced Monday so I should make it till then.

That's how long/thick your cervix is. That is a useful measurement for seeing early labor preparation. :)

It is a way of checking to see if you might be going into pre term labor :-) the longer your cervix the less chance. Yours is nice and long though so unfortunately doesn't seem like he/she might come early. Hopefully your baby will be right on time!
