Thank you ladies. I will def check with my doc but I think I'll be making my own all natural with almond milk oatmeal & fruits.
Commercial protein shakes aren't regulated by any authority the way that medications are, so you can never be sure of their exact ingredients. I would advise against them. I played rugby and am fairly active and I refused to take them, instead I ate foods that were rich in protein eg: eggs, chicken, yoghurt etc. They have the added benefit of being very filling as well so as long as they were cooked properly, they were as good as.. If not better. Alternatively, like someone mentioned make your own using healthy ingredients!
I drank them with all of my pregnancies. Not to substitute a meal but as a snack, to hold me over. I have a hard time eating breakfast right away so I would do a muscle milk or carnation instant breakfast so I wouldn't get sick
Make your oun protein shake, use Fage (fi-ya) plain yogurt, a little milk and frozen berries in a blender, works great and is packed with protein.
Yeah, just make sure there arent artificial sweeteners in it. Those aren't good in general and especially for the baby
I would ask your doctor. Pure stuff should be ok, I mean protien is good, but alot of stuff can be in that mix.
I am still carrying baby weight from my 9m old son. Seemed like it just wouldnt come off. I thought I had hypothyroid.....ended up being vitamin d and calcium deficiency....one sympyom .....the inability to burn fat.
So, I started taking suppliments. And go figure, 5lbs gone in the first 2 weeks. Lol, then I find out I am pregnant. Hopefully though, I can maintain this weight for a good while. I am about 2olbs away from where I should be.
I think if I do loose any in these first few months it may just be my body averaging out the d and calcium.
