Pumping

So this may be my 4th child but with my first I had a terrible time trying to breastfeed her so I just formula fed her. With my other 2 was straight breast till they were a year old. With this one I want to breastfeed and pump. For all the mommies that have pumped, how difficult is it and how long does it take to fill a bottle?

I definitely think breastfeeding/pumping is the best. It's good for you and the baby.

I used a double electric pump and would pump for 15 minutes every 3 hours. I would pump every 3 hours during the morning and the night until he was about 4 months. Then I continued to pump every 3 hours just during the day.  That was always enough to feed him and I didn't have to supplement with formula. I didn't think it was difficult at all. I would just turn the TV on or be on my smartphone while I pumped. I recommend you drink lots of water to keep your supply up.

I agree with the lady above me. Manual pumps aren't worth it. I always thought it took too long to pump and never got all the milk out.

I breastfed for 7 months with my son and only stopped when he took no more interest :( I bought the tommy tippee electric pump and it was fab...soo easy! I just used to turn it on and hold it there at night while watching TV and switch boobs when I needed to :) I would recommend spending the money on an electric one?.I bought a manual and it was awful and hurt my arms lol x

It depends on your milk. Everyone is different. Mine took about 15 minutes on each side and I got more the more I pumped.
