Yea that's definitely what I'm thinking. Has to be the doctor. :) i really want to know an estimate of weight but unless doc maybe sees a reason too, then I prob will just have to wait and see!

And I'm not high risk or anything like that its just what they do. I live in ca n my friend who lives in the nxt town over only gets two... I know it can't be my insurance bkus we have the same insurance. Must just be my doc office and the ultrasound pace they send me to.

The ultrasound dr I go to give me an ultrasound every 4 wks starting at 24 weeks and yes they do tell me about how much she weighs.. at 24weeks my little girl was 1 lb 8 oz and I will go back Feb 12 th for my 28 week and they will tell me how much she weighs then.. its a growth check or something like that. I've had the same routine for my last 3 pregnancies and this one too.. everytime I go they tell me.

Thanks Kaylee for info. And to everyone else that responded, I'm beginning ti think it's a doctor's preference on whether or not do ultrasound and focus on weight from the answers I think. I'm just gonna ask at next doc apt. Thanks for your responses ladies:)

I've never been told how heavy my babies were before they were born.

Every appointment since 28 weeks my doctor tells me the weight, I'm 33 weeks and my Lil man is estimated 3lbs 15 ounces, before they would just tell me his length

My doctor kinda kept me informed towards the last few months . I had an ultrasound every visit because he had a machine in his office so it was easy . He really started telling me in about my 7th month because the baby is growing so much . He took my son early because he was big and I was little .

Guess everyone is different but I have always been told the weight . I'm sure if you have another scan you can ask and they will tell you . I was told my baby was around 10lbs & he was 10.01 .

OK thanks ladies!  I'm measuring a week early so maybe they don't see a reason to do an ultrasound to check the weight but next apt I will ask!  Just kinda wish knew what baby might weigh (even tho know not always accurate! )

Generally no, not unless they have a concern. I never got one with my first but this bub has been measuring 2 to 4 weeks ahead at most scans & I'm tiny so my docs been keeping an eye on him with growth scans.

I don't think it's a standard thing that all doctors do.i only got 2 with my first, one to confirm and the anatomy scan at 20w.
But the doctor I have this time, she gives one at 36w to guage size and overall physical development of baby.
Just ask your doctor about it. And if not maybe one of those 3d ultrasound places might be an alternative.

Typically no. I never got a weight scan with my first hust a scan to confirm pregnancy and another fir the anatomy. But I will get one with this baby around 36 weeks but only because I was diagnosed with gestational diabetes
