Sorry, posted that last comment too early... I was gonna say, If your twins are in the same sac they are identical and considered monochorionic-monoamniotic. Mono-mono twins are the riskiest (nothing to be worried about under close perinatalogist supervision) and most mono-mono mommies are hospitalized at 24 weeks for constant monitoring. Like I said, push hard for more specialized care. You deserve it!

Ashjay - you're far enough along that you should be seen twice a month by a specialist...especially if they're in the same sac. You should consider pushing your doctors for better care considering the risk.

Mono-di stands for monochorionic-diamniotc which means one placenta and two amniotic sacs. Mono-di twins are the result of the egg splitting after fertilization, and are always identical. They are considered high risk because of an increased risk of twin to twin transfusion syndrome, which is where one twin takes nutrients from the other. Mono-di and mono-mono (even riskier) pregnancies are safest and most successful when closely monitored by a perinatal specialist. Let me know if you have any other questions, I'd love to help...after all the research I've done and questions I've had answered by my specialist I feel like like a pro. Haha.

I am 32 weeks with twin girls, separate sacks....I was terribly sick the first trimester and exhausted the second. Now my ribs hurt and I am having a hard time breathing. They are almost 4 pounds each so being uncomfortable comes with the territory. Lol. I did not gain much weight and people look at me like I am making it up when I tell them there are two in there....I am sure I will balloon out very soon....I have only gained three pounds. Few things to remember. First talk to your Dr about your iron intake, its pretty common to get anemic during twin pregnancy. Second listen to your bod, you are working twice as hard to make these babies in the same ammt of time...it is hard work! Rest when your body tells you to. Even though this journey can be a challenge we got this. One of my favorite things is more ultrasounds....they need to monitor the babied closely so we get to see them more often! If you have any questions don't hesitate to ask. And congrats!

Congrats! I'm 19 weeks with mono-di girls. It's overwhelming to grow so fast (already growing out of my first round of maternity clothes) but so much fun to experience. I'm still sick, but taking meds that help a lot. I've had tons of round ligament pain this week and love feeling my girls move around. I get up about 3 or 4 times a night to use the bathroom, so I am usually exhausted and try to nap a little during the day. Exercising is hard because it makes my pelvis/pubic bone hurt so bad. That might be because my girls are head down, our maybe just because I'm big. I'm a small framed person, I look like I'm about 30 weeks at this point. How is it going for you so far?
