Why does this happen?!

So Im 37+4. 3rd baby. On friday night I had the worst cramps and backaches that came and went at first 10 mins...then 5...then 7....then back to 10. It was like my lower back was locking up every few mins and at the same time I'd have like a period cramp. It was also intensifying the entire time...started off annoying then got painful.
All things braxton hicks arent meant to do,right?
So all day yesterday I had a terrible back ache and I was sure the cramps would follow like the night before. But nope!

Everyone says,its the start of labor! How? Im still pregnant lol. I know 3 more weeks is very likely but I had never had that happen with my other pregnancies!

Anyone else had that? What did it end up being?

There are a few options! Talk to your l&d because it varies from hospital to hospital.
They gave me something in an iv. Wish I could remember what it was called

With your vbac with the meds, how did that work?? I really dont want an epidural this time around but I also dont want to be in agonizing pain. I have thought about just the pain medication but dont know much about it

Treksy, I totally understand. This pregnancy has been rough. Doc appt Tues. Hoping they finally check me and have dilated. Been really sore and crampy down low this morning. Maybe time is getting close. Woke up at 4:30 am wanting to clean but made myself stay in bed.

Ive had one labor when I refused epidural...ended up having a c section after hours of pushing and getting nowhere.
One vbac where I had meds but not epidural. Undecided this time. Guess Ill see how it goes!

You might actually be in labor but rather than in thr front it moved into your back.... I hear back labor is the worst kind of labor there is... thats what kind of labor my sister had and it made her immediately change her mind about getting an epidural (she originally didn't want one)

Yes my pregnancy has been a bit like that, im 38 + 4 n I don't even no if im dilated only thing I do no is head was starting to engage on Thursday my midwife hasn't checked if im dilated

Really hope you are close. It hasn't been so for me though. The past 4 weeks same deal.  What was more devastating,  was no progress.  I've progressed finally since than to 2cm @ 38+3. Even all night, this morning cramping.  Trying not to get my hopes up again.  Just took some Tylenol and feeling sad, because this pregnancy has gotten my hopes up to many times and than nada. Even woke up to painful contractions that forced me to grab my husband and breathe something serious,  than nada. Think just with more babies more pregnancy issues. False labor *****.

False labor. Braxton hicks.  Your probably getting close. I know every pregnancy is different. You've also probably dilated more, those type of cramps usuallu indicated that I was. I would let my doc know of this at ur next appt. & he should def check you for Dilation.
