Smoking support group

I saw someone recently presented the idea to start a smoking support group for pregnant moms who are having a hard time kicking the habit. I think that's a good idea. I am 21 weeks and smoke one cigarette a day to one every to or three. it's getting a little easier but when I gt upset it's still my go too. I used to smoke a pack every two days before I found out I was pregnanat at 4 weeks so considering that I think im doing well. I know women who have smoked their entire pregnancies and all kids are fine. I'm not using this as an excuse because I know that they were probably just lucky I'm just saying I understand that struggle and would like to help/ receive support ONLY form women who have the same issues.

You have to remember not to think about yourself I smoked until I found out I was pregnant at 6 weeks which I've smoked for many years at least a pack a day. I quit cold Turkey. I don't want to be responsible if something was to happen to my inborn child because I was selfish enough to inhale toxins to him. I know it's hard believe me especially when my boyfriend smokes in front of me everyday. But you have to do it. Cutting back is the first step! There's not a day that goes by that I don't want to just light up a cig though I've done good for 8 months but once he gets here that the first thing I'm going to do!

I smoked for give or take 10 years, and I was NOT prepared to quit. I smoked up until I was about 16 weeks. Just like you I was smoking half a pack a day. In the first trimester I tried really hard to slow down buy that just made me want it more. I'd go for like a week without smoking and then start up again. This happened like at least 5 times. Each time I started again, I smoked a little less. I gave myself the ration of 4 a day. I always told myself "this is the last pack" but it never was. My husband isn't a smoker, and he use to make me feel like **** about it all time. It's not like we don't know it's bad for us and the baby, but it's a real life addiction. Your brain becomes chemically dependent on nicotine! I tried e-cigarettes to slow myself down, that didn't work.

I actually did it though, I quit. At around 18 weeks, once I could feel the baby moving. I just guilt tripped myself into quitting.
I won't lie though, I think about smoking EVERY DAY. I crave it so much. I dream about it and can actually taste it. I love the smell of people who are smoking. My husband doesn't want me to start up again after she's born (due in March) but god, it's so hard.
I think the people who pass judgement need to mind their own business. We're not uneducated people. We know the risks, how much money you could save, how we smell, and whatever else they like to say. If you can't quit, do NOT beat yourself up over it because then you'll end up smoking more cause you're stressed out! Take it one day at a time. This is an addiction that will follow you for the rest of your life.
Truth be told, I'm more excited about having my first cigarette than anything else. But I know myself well enough to know that once I start, I won't stop.

Good luck to you ladies!

It sounds like every one is doing their best to quit or at least slow down like me lol! I just feel so guilty sometimes but even through the guilt I still crave a smoke I'm just gonna keep trying and you all should too I'm just trying not to be so hard on myself when I slip up because I'm still human pregnant or not

I'm 27 abd started smoking at 15. With my first daughter I didn't know I was pregnant fir the months. My doctor told me that I should just cut back so I did. From a pack a day to four or five a day if that. With my second I did the same thing. They were both good weight abd healthy. Smoking is the hardest thing to quit....I dint care what anyone says. All we can do is take it one day at a time. If you can quit more power to you!! Good luck

I'm 16 weeks and I struggle as well. My husband is a smoker so it's hard. But we both have vowed to stop as of today! I wish us all luck!

i was always told bybthe doctors that it's worse to stress out and a couple a day isn't going to hurt. i was able to quit with my husband at 6 wks only to slip up after alot of stress suddenly coming into our lives. well at about 4 or 5 months had one to calm me down as i was beside myself and now have a few drags off of one and put it out a couple times a day. really hoping to quit again..thinking that the 2 days I'm in the hospital will help me go cold turkey .just hope i can refrain from it when like gets tough because i know it will again.good luck
