Baby Celebration

I finally figured out a plane ticket home! I got really sad at the thought of not having a baby shower or some type of bbq or celebration for the baby and I had numerous friends volunteer to do something special. Now that I've bought my ticket, I'm not getting too many replies on who really wnats to do something and I'm really disappointed. I dont want gifts or gift cards or baby shower games or anything, I seriously just want a party with my loved ones celebrating my baby.

Is it tacky to try to plan something on my own? What wording is best to use for invites to something like that? I'm only visiting for one week, this is the most realistic way to see everyone and I dont want it to not happen because of flaky people not wanting to help plan it. Thank you for any thoughts or opinions :)

I say it's absolutely fine to plan something on your own! Strangely that may be the time ppl start chipping in the help :) I would just say "I'm inviting all my friends/family for a get together/BBQ" it's up to you whether u want to mention it's In celebration of your pregnancy. At least they will know the purpose and of course it totally up to them if they want to bring a gift. Good luck and have fun back home!!!

I dont think its tacky just make it casual like a bbq or outdoor event obviously dont put anything like a baby registry on there if thats not what you want just something simple like join us for a bbq celebrating the new baby to be. Gifts are optional. Im sure you can find lots of wording ideas on Pinterest or online invite sites.
