Spicy food cravings

Has anyone heard that you shouldn't eat spicy foods when pregnant? I've been craving indian food so I made some spicy tikka masala last night. It doesn't give me heartburn and I don't recall my doctor saying anything about not eating spicy food but my sister ( who has been hovering over me and monitoring my eating like a pregnancy police) insists that she heard that spicy food is bad for the baby or will induce early labor. (I'm 17 weeks) has anyone else heard this or is she just being ridiculous?

I ate spicy food all thru my pregnancy lol. It did give me heartburn near the end but so did other food. I delivered at 38.6 but it had nothing to do with eating spicy food lol

Eat away! I put jalapeƱos and hot sauce on just about everything and I'm fine so far (30 weeks) and I did the same with my first pregnancy. That's actually when I found my love for spicy foods and it never went away lol

You are completely fine to eat spicy food. They do say that spicy food induces labour but then so does sex and you don't have to stop that while pregnant. Nothing will naturally induce labour until your body is ready to go into labour so don't worry and eat away.

Well if spicy foods induce labor then it doesn't work for me. I've been eating spicy foods (Indian and Thai) since I found out I was pregnant and I am now 37 weeks and no closer to having baby. It also doesn't hurt baby unless there is something wrong with the food like bacteria or whatever but that is true for any food not just spicy stuff. I say go for it

I highly doubt it. You're totally fine. One of my biggest cravings is spicy foods! Especially hot wings I never experienced heart burn until now that I'm in my third trimester but I'm sure it's totally fine!
