They perform my test at 36 weeks I found out I was positive when I went back for 37 week apt. I appreciate everyone's comments and encouragement I have been reading about how rare it is for baby to get it but if the baby contracts it can lead to alot of health issues like meningitis causing brain swelling :( I am going to stay positive and remain prayerful.
I tested positive with my first and was given antibiotics, but with my 2nd my doc told me I would be receivibg them again just because I was positive with my first. Same with this pregnancy, I was told from my first appointment as a reminder that I would be given it again when I go into labor.
I tested positive with my 3rd. I got the antibiotics during labor and she was fine. She's 4 years old now and I'm pregnant with #4. I was wondering what the chances are of me testing positive with this one too. I'm only 13 weeks so it will be a long while before I'm tested. Just wondering if I'm more likely tho test positive since I did before our if that has no influence on my current pregnancy. Does anyone know?
I had it with babies 2 and 3 and my second I didn't get the antibiotics at all because I had her as soon as I got there. They both were healthy and neither one of them got it.
I was actually born with it. For some reason the hospital didn't even test my mother. I was extremely ill as a newborn. But now I'm healthy as ever. I don't ever have any major medical problems.Just be glad they tested you for it. Everything will be fine with you on
the antibiotics!! :)
Im 32wks and later I too have to get tested just to make sure all is safe for my little one. Try not to stress too much! You seem to be in good hands.
FTM, I tested positive as well and was reassured that not only is it common but as long as I receive the antibiotic as soon as I go into labor, my baby will be fine. I'm keeping you and your baby in my prayers. :)
When do they test for this?
Thanks for your feedback that puts my mind at ease :)
They dont test you for gobs until the end of pregnancy. Being gbs positive is really nothing to be too worried about, 25% of all women carry the bacteria. They give you antibiotics in labor to protect your baby from it. And even if they didnt, less than 1 percent of babies born to moms who are gbs positive who dont receive antibiotics in labor actually get sick from it!
