Stretch marks

ftm. Does body type or ethnicity have anything to do with the likeliness of getting stretch marks or is it a give and take situation?

Im an overweight person anyways ( pre pregnancy I was 260). I was on a medication that made me gain 110lbs in 9 months and basically killed my metabolism. I was normal sized back a few years ago before this medication ( im off it now thank god).anyways 110 pounds in 9 months has caused some stretch marks on my body, yet being 27 weeks hasnt caused one yet.. its very bizarre ( believe me I was consumed by my stretch marks before becoming pregnant I tried everything to disappear them so I know every single one on my body and nothing has changed.. My mother has pregnancy stretch marks though. You just would have thought where I'd previously had them I'd be getting them now and I'm not!

My doctor told me its genetics. He said if I was worried ask my mom or grandma if they got them. I used stretch mark cream from day one twice a day until I had my son and still got stretch marks. I have used it again with this pregnancy but still got a little more. I just keep using the lotion to be hopeful haha

Stretch marks depends on genetics, hydration n how fast ur skin is stretched n how much. If u gain to much weight too fast it is more likely that u will get some cuz of the tear ur skin will have under ur skin. But mainly it's genetics. U can try lotions n other stuff but that is just to keep ur skin hydrated.. but it still has other factors like ur genes.

It depends how big your tummy stretches. With my first I got no strech marks my tummy was very small at 9 months. With my second he was a massive baby I got two stretch marks. With my third I didn't get any stretch marks and with this baby I've got about 3 stretch marks. They don't bother me and when your tummy goes back to normal they are less noticeable. Just depends on your body hoe big you stretch.

It's genetics and how hydrated you can keep your skin inside and out as well as how quickly you gain weight. Lord of water,  lotion and a healthy (ish) diet will help.

Im 27 ftm, and prone to getting stretchmarks, my sisters and mom did not get them, i dont think it has anything to do with ethnicity, i think its how well our bodies are hydrated , or maybe genetics. Im light skinned hispanic, and my stretchmarks look dark.  It makes me very sad when i see them :(

Not sure if a certain ethnicity or body type get stretch marks more (a lot of my Indian friends got them but not sure if that is an Indian thing or just happened to be my friends), but I definitely think part of it is genetics... A lot of women in the same families seem to either all get them or all not get them (mostly anyway), so I'm not sure it's something you can help too much.
My naturopath also said a zinc deficiency can contribute to stretch marks/low skin elasticity as well as age.

I'm not trying to sound disrespectful to your response I know that strech marks are caused by your skin stretching. I should have worded it differently. I meant that I was wondering if for some women it shows because they are darker or skinnier then others. I know it doesn't happen in all cases because I know ladies that didn't get strech marks at all
