TDaP dilemma

My bro/sis-in-law are asking all family members to get the TDaP vaccination before meeting their newborn.  Being pregnant myself and not a proponent of vaccines in general,  I'm hesitant to get it, but don't want to cause major family drama and not be able to "see their baby for 6 months".  Thoughts...?

@Meagan- I totally agree. But at the same time to each their own I guess. I respect other people's decisions even tho I don't agree with it. I've just seen so many times how not vaccinating causes death. Working in healthcare and running an OB unit it happens frequently. So I'm pretty bias because of what I've seen. I just feel sad when babies die from things that could have been prevented

I hate how some people put other kids lives at risk bc they are to selfish to get their kids vaccinated. I feel like it shouldn't be a choice but should be the law.

Also....your right....her brother can't make her get the vaccine....but if I was him I can certainly stop her from being around my baby. I don't want to kill my child.

I've seen 3 babies in the last 2 years die before 3 months with whooping cough that either A- someone in their family refused to get, B- or the mother refused to get. I've seen it happen even more being that I've worked In healthcare for the last 15 years. It gives your children antibodies to fight off these diseases. What is there to question. I hear ALOT of people say DO YOU RESEARCH but you should also research the recent resurfacing of diseases that were eradicated but are now becoming prevelant again because people don't vaccinate their children. I think it's really sad....I know people who significantly changed their mind the day they hurried their newborn from a disease that could have been prevented. To each their own I guess....but to me not getting my kids vaccinated is like putting a gun to their heads opinion. Just my opinion.
