both the possible nursery rooms in my house are already painted light blue -the paint is new, so i'm not going to bother repainting
i grew up with a light blue room with red trim
This is my first and I'm finding out because I'm so excited to have a little one at all. I also want a good variety of clothes but intend to encourage all kinds of play and let their sense of style and self flourish as they grow. I think I might find it easier to think of themes our anything decor wise once I know the sex, since it's like the first step in getting to know my child. But I still plan to use things like blocks or animals for themes rather than making it all blue or pink.
With our first, the names were Calvin and Cailin so we just always said Baby C :)
I would love to be able to refer to them by their name, but maybe I can just use both names, ha ha. It's nice that a lot of people are doing gender neutral colors regardless though, I feel like it's fairly rare nowadays.
We had already chosen names and wanted to be able to use his name when we talk to him in my belly-I've read . We are still going with gender neutral colors & a wild animals theme for his room.
with my first, my husband and I found out but didn't tell anyone so nothing would be gender-specific. after that, we figure there's no harm in telling because it's not like the first where you have a shower. if anything, we'll only receive hand me downs from my sisters and my parents might help with bigger items since we're having twins and need two of everything. I don't think the parents finding out plays into gender stereotypes...it all depends on the parents' mindset
