That's average...I'm taking 6wks but only working part time after he's born
come live in Canada, we get a yr :)
A year?! Oh, that freakn awesome. If I wouldn't miss my family so much I would be packing right now. Lol
Most places in the US give you the standard 6 weeks for vaginal delivery and 8 weeks for c section and then there is the option of taking family medical leave which extends out to three months. That is usually unpaid but your job is secure after. That year is nice in Canada but those taxes are high to pay for it. :>) Anyway, that is pretty much the norm. My company also let you stack up your vacation time so I had 6 weeks vacation built up and took that after my 6 weeks so had 12 weeks off paid. good luck
It depends on where you work and how long you've worked there. According to the FMLA, if you work for a government agency, schools, or agency company with more than 50 employees you agency re eligible for up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave to be home with your baby. You must have also worked there for at least 12 months. You can Google FMLA and find more info on the dept. of labor website.
Hope this helps!
6weeks disability, 6 weeks paid fam leave total 12 weeks
Im so shocked at your maternity entitlement in the US..here in the UK it depends on who you work for but i get 52 weeks last 12 weeks are unpaid though. My 1st 6 weeks are at full pay then i do go down to half pay. If i return to work we get paid the other half of our pay over a 6 month period. I feel for yas its so hard when youve just had a baby to find routine..for your body to heel and you need that time off to just be with baby. I feel very lucky. Your very hard working and i admire you all for been able to go bk so soon.
I work at home online for my own business so I'm sure I will continue multi tasking after baby is born ;)
In australia we can have 2 years off at least 6 months of it paid depending on your employer
