Dilated kidney

At my anatomy scan they told me my son's left kidney was dilated, and they would do a follow up ultrasound in the third trimester. I'm not 30 weeks and they called and told me that his kidney is still mildly dilated and they'll have to do an ultrasound on him when he  is born. I was really hoping for some good news, but I'm grateful it's nothing serious and that they're going to monitor it. If he is still dilated will they just give him antibiotics and monitor him until it resolves itself? (It is my understanding most cases resolve themselves by the age of 1).

My son has this. It was picked up at his 28wks scan and then they did another one when he was born, and then every other month until he was 12mths old as its quite large. What their looking at is whether its resolving itself, if the kidney is growing normally anyway, and for any scarring due to UTI's. At his 12mths scan they said it hadn't resolved but he's had 1 UTI and the kidney is growing well so we've decided to have another scan at 18mths and 2yrs then decide if it needs intervention. It really doesn't effect him, he eats like crazy and is developing fine, but I have to be really mindful of unexplained fevers because it could be a sign hes getting a UTI. I hope that helps! Feel free to ask me anything. Good luck!
