Hi. I am 38 weeks with my second child and will be having a water birth again all being well. My first was a water birth and it was a fantastic experience.  The contractions were much easier to manage than on dry land. I live in uk so no issue with insurance.  Only issue is that it is really only suitable/offered if a pool is available when you present at hosp in labour and neither mum or baby need additional monitoring. Also, pain meds are limited to gas and air. If you need stronger you need to come out of the water.  If you can, I would throughly recommend it! Good luck.

I am planning a UC at home because I want to have one and it's the only way I can where I live. The only midwife within an hour that will do it isn't covered by my ins and the doctors around here look at me like I'm crazy if I start talking about anything natural and hospitals won't allow it. So I'm excited to birth on my terms this time.

I wanted one with my first pregnancies...but the hospitals where I live don't offer them...But a friend of mine lives in Chicago and went to a "birthing center" and absolutely loved the experience.

You just need to check between your local hospitals, birthing centers...and most importantly your insurance to find out if it is even an option for you

I wanted to do a water birth but my insurance doesn't cover it. Hopefully you have better luck than me and can enjoy the experience. From what I've looked up it seems so much more relaxing and it's great for someone who doesn't want to use drugs since you cant. And it's an easy transition for the baby.
