Water in the kidney

I had my 20 week ultrasound on Monday, and just receieved a call from my doctor today where I was told there is water on my baby's kidneys and that it could mean he has a chromosomal abnormality.  I've been scheduled for a blood test tomorrow to see what the chances are that there is anything wrong.  I've also been all over google about it and have learned that it can be a soft marker for down syndrome (although I felt a little better when I read it's about a 1% chance).  My question is, has anyone been through this, and what was your outcome?

There is a less incasive test that can be done now called the harmony test. It is a bit expensive but less chance of harming the baby than an amnio

Thank you so much!  We, and everyone we know has already begun praying that everything will be fine.  And I will definitely be discussing all options with my doctor.

you should get an amniocentesis done... they're more accurate with the resulta. and have a wider variety of tests.
I went at 24 weeks for an anatamy scan and they found a calcium deposit in her heart and said a fiber in her brain was missing and said she most likely had a chromosomal abnormality. so I did the amniocentesis.
all I can suggest is pray for your baby and have faith because God will make sure your baby is healthy. I have such a stronger relationship with Him since the day I was told that she may have something wrong with her but two weeks after I got the results and they were all negative and the deposit in her heart is gone :)
prayers your way! stay strong momma. your baby will be perfectly healthy, just have faith and keep thinking positive.

Yes, when i went for my first ultrasound at 18 weeks they told me the same thing. That my baby had water in his kidney. I was scheduled another ultrasound at 25 weeks and everything was fine. The baby had no longer any water in his kidney. My dr didnt send me for no blood work because when he told me about the water in the kidney he also asked me if i wanted to get blood work done to see if my baby had downsyndrome and told him no. God is sending me my baby the way he feels is right. So like i said when i went 7 weeks later my baby was fine.
