I experienced the same type of cramping. My doctor told me it was normal and to drink lots of water. As long as you are not bleeding or have excessive discharge or have low back pain that doesn't go away my doctor said it is fine. I have also heard it is because your uterus is expanding and causes cramping.
OK my sister was 19 weeks pregnant and started to have those cramps and when she called the doctor she also said it was normal that it was No need for her to come in and a couple of days after when she went for a regular checkup she was going into premature labor the whole time and it was too late to stop it. She was pregnant with twins a boy and girl.

@Red - Yes, I have been to my dr and had a phone consult with a nurse at my drs office. I told her what I was experiencing and she said period-like cramps were normal as long as they were not accompanied by bleeding.
At 7 weeks period type cramps are usually not normal. Because your so early. Have you been to a doctor yet?
Tylonal, plenty of water and rest and you can use heating pads on low for few mins at time.
