pitocin..any thoughts?

My April 3rd due date is soo close. However, my doctor asked if I wanted to schedule an induction and I did for 3/30. Throughout my pregnancy, a few friends have told me to avoid pitocin and being induced if I could. Any ladies who've delivered have advice on the drug or any issues it caused for you/baby?!

I was induced with both mine. Super easy and fast delivery. My labors were short 6 1/2 hrs for my first & 5 1/2 for my second. Just relax and everything will be fine.

Pitocin helps the uterus contract uncontrollably. Which puts stress on the baby which leads to a c section which puts more money in the docs hand for doing a surgery. Its all about the money

I had a wonderful experience with pitocin. I had to be induced at 40 weeks due to high blood pressure. They did use something to soften my cervix as well. It helped also to stay on top of pain management I felt minimal pain.

My first 3 were all induced. I loved being able to plan around the birth with having older kids and all my experiences  were  great.  No problems quicker labors. Currently pregnant with #4 due april 7th and might be induced..but mine were each induced for a reason.

I was induced with pitocin and had an all natural labor. It was turned up all the way. I had a normal vaginal delivery

If you can avoid the induction I would. The risk of c-section goes way up.

Thanks for your responses. You ladies are mostly confirming what others have told me,  which is pitocin can be harmful and causes a hard labor. I've dilated 2 cm so hopefully within the next few days, she'll come on her own :-)

I was induced with my first and it was a AWFUL experience, my contractions were so hard I literally felt like my stomach was being torn from the inside out and that's sugar coating it. Pitocin was horrendous I refuse to be induced with my 2nd

Why do doctors offer induction before the due date if baby is healthy?

I did the whole induction thing with my first and it will never happen again!  That stuff is awful. I later researched it and found that it can potentially be harmful to baby. Because it causes the uterus to contract stronger than naturally which may put more pressure on baby and sometimes put them in distress. I would wait if I was you

I personally was in labor for three days with my second and they decided to offer me pitocin. I was on it for twelve hours and nothing. They finally broke my water and 45 min later he was there. Honestly waiting in my opinion in better but that is just my experience everyone is different. Worked out great for my mom with her fifth.

I wouldn't and if you decide to schedule after due date...when i went into labor OB thought I was almost 38 weeks my baby ende up being 6 weeks early, so there is always a chance for your due date to be off as well as other complications...it's always better to go the most natural route baby will come when it's ready

i was having contractions (barely least bit painful) a day after my due date, they admitted me, I was 3cm. put me in Pitocin right away, that was Wednesday at 8pm..... Friday at 6am they broke my water. I was 4cm... Friday at 12 noon I was 4cm. and they brought me in for a c section at 3pm.
I'd with Ashleysboys, wait til after your due date at LEAST :\
Pitocin is hard on your body as it FORCES your body to do something it's not ready to do. the contractions come on SO strong and are SO painful that you're not relaxed in the slightest, making it harder and longer for your cervix to open because it's not really ready to :(

I know it's different for everyone. I was induced and ended up having to do a c-section. So i would advise you to put the induction for after your due date.
