What kind of crib to get?

The nursery is quite large so size isn't a problem, first baby (girl). Do I go with just a regular crib or a 3 in 1, or a 4 in 1? My husband says regular crib cause if we have baby number 2 we can use it again. But the cribs that grow with baby seem to be so much more useful... i seem to go back and forth daily. AND do I go with a white or dark brown stain!? Please help!

My oldest was in his crib till he started climbing out at age 2. Then we moved to toddler bed. I am hoping the same for his brother who is 1. Baby girl will have a crib too.

All I have to say is look around and don't spend a ton of money. I thought I had to buy a super expensive nursery set for my son from babies r us so I spent 499 on a crib/changing table and 399 on a dresser and the dresser is garbage. My husband and my dad had to fix it multiple times. I have to say the walmart one that we bought for 99 bucks is way better quality. The crib is nice and does convert into a toddler and day bed but you need to buy the conversion set to make it a queen and its expensive. My son slept in it for 4 months and that was it.. he is now in a queen size bed in our spare room which is now his room and it was his choice to move there. I'm now expecting babe 2 so hopefully it will get more use but seriously spend your money on other things and get one that looks nice but isnt super expensive they dont stay in them long.

We got a convertible crib 3in1 for our 1st born.  He only used it as a crib. He hated the toddler bed as he wanted us to lay with him at 1 1/2 when we switched it. He started out on a twin mattress on the floor.  We bought him his own full size bed at age 2 so we could sleep with him and since we were having baby #2. Im hoping with baby #2 it grows with her but if not oh well you live and you learn :)

i got a crib from ikea that does convert to a toddler's bed for about 160. still need to get the mattress. not planning on converting it because i think ill be having my second before that happens. its simple and has clean lines, i got it in white since we aren't finding out what we are having so it seems the most unisex. It also got great reviews for safety and all that good stuff.

3 or 4 in 1. If you look you can find them with the toddler bar provided. I plan on just making mine a day bed and getting the mesh gaurd.

Just FYI the "3 in 1" cribs are a lot more expensive and most of them only come with the parts for the crib itself...if you want to change it into a toddler bed or day bed later you have to buy the separate parts. We got a super cheap Walmart crib. It's really cute, nothing fancy, because baby will be in our room in a bassinet for the first few months and will probably use the crib for less than a year. So I didn't want to spend a lot of money on something we won't have for long.
