Heavy smoker

I am 8.5 weeks gone and I am struggling BIG time to quit smoking. I feel terrible for smoking whilst pregnant but I can't stop myself! I smoke roll ups and I keep convincing myself that they're not so bad but I know they are!! I just don't want to quit, that's the problem. Help!!!!!

If you find it really hard to quit smoking, try a vaporizer with nicotine. Yeah you'll still have the nicotine, but you won't be breathing harmful chemicals that are in regular cigarettes. If you have a smoke shop near you, they'll have the vaporizers. The smoke shop near me sells them as cheap as $17.99 for a whole kit, and the liquids are around $6 or $7 each bottle. Try to get ones that say made in the USA. The ones that aren't marked that may have some extra chemicals... Good luck!

Good luck! Thankfully for me it wasnt too hard because I was fairly new smoker. But it still took me about a month to quit. Id throw whole packs away and end up buying more.

Wow you cut back a lot! Good for you! I know you can do it :)!! I smoked for 10 years, half a pack a day steadily, never wanted to quit lol. But it's been 4 months and I haven't had a single cigarette!

I have gone from 15-20 a day down to about 5-10 since I found out I was pregnant 3 weeks ago. I know people will hate me for smoking and think I'm being selfish but honestly I am so mad at myself already. Thanks for the messages. My midwife is aware and she is going to get me some support to quit. So hard!!

Try the e-cig and even start by using it to cut down and not smoke so many util you can just use the e-cig itself

First things first, GOOD FOR YOU for wanting to quit! That's definitely a step forward in the right direction! How many are you smoking a day? I smoked about anywhere between 4-10 up until I was 16 weeks. It was REALLY hard to quit for me. I would stop for a week, and then start up again. I understand completely what you're going through.
If you have any friends that smoke, don't hang out with them until you can kick the habit. It's really hard to quit if everyone is lighting up around you!
Don't beat yourself up if you slip after not smoking for a few days. Try to stay POSITIVE. Believe in yourself that you CAN do this for you and your baby.

I know there will be a lot of mean comments on this post saying how selfish you are and what smoking is doing to your child. But I know you know this already, so don't even bother with them.
You can do this. Stay strong! Just remember, you might be making the choice to have a cigarette, but your baby doesn't get to make a choice :(.
Stay positive and ALWAYS remind yourself why you're doing it and that it's worth it!

If you are not willing to quit there is not much to be done. I would recommend slowly weaning yourself one cigarette at a time.
