Has anyone done water birth?

I'm interested in doing water birth. Looking for someone who has done it before.

I had a water birth with my first. Labouring in the water was fantastic as I did not have any other pain relief. However when it came to the end and time to push, the buoyancy of the water acted against me. And my DD kept going back in and twisting causing me to tear and her to get stuck, plus the midwife couldn't get a clear view of what was happening.

This time round, I am going to labour in the water and ask to be continuously monitored and get out the water at about 8cm.

I had a natural water birth with my first in a birth center with a midwife and doula. It was AMAZING ! I honestly can't imagine doing it any other way. As soon as labor kicked into gear I just knew I had to get in the water. It helped so much with pain management. I was honestly comfortable. I prepped for labor with the Hypnobirthing program which also helped. Highly recommend!! I'll be doing another water birth with this one.

Such a good question! I've been wondering if it's worth a try? So many women say good things about it!! I did my last birth laying on a bed and it was soooooo slow and painful. Up for trying anything different this time!!

I've had my first baby via water birth - all natural. No epidural nor any pain med. I DID tear down there but that was due to extremely quick labor and delivery. Total was about an hour and a half from start to finish. I would recommend you to try it and if doesn't work, you can always deliver in bed.

I didn't have a water birth but I labored quite a bit in the water! It was incredible!! I went all natural and the pain was cut in half while in the water. My baby was sunny side up, so I couldn't get him out in that position. I had to hold on to the side of the bed and squat him out!! I've heard great things about water births though! Only thing is most of my friends who have had them tore bad. And I didn't tear at all. Not sure if that has anything to do with water.
