What to expect

Hi,I've just found out I'm pregnant for the first time. Absolutely over the moon I'm a week late for my period and have
tested positive on four home tests. I have an appointment on Monday and was wondering
what happens now? Will the doctor take blood? or just a urine sample? How long will it
take to get the result. Sorry if I sound stupid but this is all new to me.

Thanks

hey there,
they will most likely draw blood and you will usually have to pee each appointment. they will go over questions and take your blood pressure and weight. pregnancy test results are in right away but blood work doesn't get shared usually unless something is wrong and they will tell you about it. you can ask the doctor how long that will take cause each lab is different.
i would suggest getting some pamphlets from your doctor and even investing in a baby book. the what to expect when expecting books even tell you what each doctors visit.
congratulations on your pregnancy!!!

Depends on where you are and what you doc prefers.  Both times mine have done medical back ground, blood and urine tests, and scheduled u/s.  I've also had full pelvic exam including pap.  The first one is usually an hour long, after that 15 min once a month.  You should have u/s sometime around 10-12 weeks.

My doctors normally did a urine sample and some do ultrasounds the first time as well. Mine never did pap smears when I was pregnant every doctor I've been to advises against it and tell me to be sure and get one post pregnancy :) and the results come back in a few minutes (for the pregnancy test). Good luck! And congrats!!

They will probably do an ultrasound if u are far enough along. And do a urine test and a pap. That's what happened to me both times.
