actively losing weight during pregnancy

So.. I'm a fluffy lady and I'd just 4G lbs before surprise pregnant with my thrid. I gained 35 with my first 100 with my second only because I was on full bed rest for 5 mi the of my pregnancy and super depressed with having to be on bed rest so I ate like crazy and very bad. So with my third I'm trying to gain 10 lbs or less. Now I've done my research and talked to my obgyn and he said as long as it's not more than a 2 lb weight loss a week he'd be fine with it since like I said I'm fluffy. But everyone else thinks my nuts including my husband who tries to tempt me with super bad food because he thinks losing the weight will be bad for the baby. So far 16 weeks and only gain 3lbs but then again still pretty early.

i agree with most of the comments above. Whatever you eat, make sure it's healthy. Dont give in to junk food, because it wont provide your baby with any nutrients. plus, most junk food stores and take outs dont maintain good hygiene standards, so you never know what kind of oil they use or what was in their ice cream / soda dispenser.

i do snack a lot during the day, mostly on sweets like ice cream, cake or biscuits. but before i reach out for a snack, i have a fruit first and some water. i also make sure i consume around 3 fruits and 2 veggies a day, only then i deserve to snack.

also watch your portion sizes. i eat moderate portions for breakfast, lunch and dinner. but i also snack every 2 hours that i dont stay hungry. if i get really hungry thats when i end up over-eating, mostly unhealthy stuff.

i hope you manage to avoid junk food, tell hubby it's not good for your baby, it really isnt. and try to cover all possible food categories in a day, i.e. calcium, fiber, iron, veggies, fruits, dairy, whole wheat, etc.

good luck girl!  :-)

If you are heavy then losing weight can be healthy for you and baby as long as you are just eating healthy. I gained 50lbs with my first and with this one I'm trying not to go over 20lbs its really hard. I walk 2 miles(40 minutes for me) almost everyday. I'm 27+3 and I've gained about 14 lbs I obviously don't think I'll make my goal. But you're not crazy just keep resisting and don't let people tell you you're nuts. Keep strong and good luck.

Sweet nice too see I'm not the only one who watching my weight closely. Before my second baby I was 145 then I shot up to 275 yeah totally insane. Got down to 225 before surprise pregnant with 3rd baby. My goal is to get back down to 150... eventually went from 275 to 225  did that in 3 months. So as long as I don't get above 235 I'll be happy then I can hopefully Co time my weight loss goal after my baby is born

I'm a fluffy girl. And at 22 weeks I've only gained 3 pounds. And no morning sickness. Just a lot of nausea. So far so good.

Naw my husband is a semi fluffy guy too just a junk food junkie before we got together i didn't eat fast food. Didn't have a microwave didn't drink soda maybe had a candy bar like 3 times a weeks because I home cooked everything and made it right sized portion so there were no left overs. But he's the fast food king and master of snack food corrupted the he'll out of me.  Lol

My boyfriend is a junk food addict and a stinking skinny butt, so I know what you mean about your man nor understanding. You might just have to straight out, seriously ask him to try to keep the junk ask far from you as he can. Explain that a calorie isn't just a calorie and it's much better for you to have a piece of whole grain toast with peanut butter than the doughnut he's flaunting.

I totally agree now Iis the time to eat healthy and stay in motion. Like that whole eating for two. Yes you are eating for to but you don't have to eat 3500 or more calories I think they say just a regular 2500 plus 250 calories at the most is perfectly fine for pregnant women. It just totally agitates me when my husband tries to throw junk food my way I don't think he gets it. Lol

My weight was crazy before I came home from college I weighed 215 got pregnant didn't think I even gained weight till I had got weighed. Doctor told me how much I was whoa i gained 20 pounds  since college.  That was my starting pregnancy weight since then I lost nine pounds  also not intentionally. I don't have morning sickness or anything. I eat healthy and don't exercise. But just recent had to do another blood test over again because I may have an overactive thyroid. Which I hope I don't. I am already considered high risk i  don't even want to be even higher. But when the doctor noticed of losing weight he didn't seem concerned. Even the first pregnancy i lost 20 pounds the first two months Dr  wasn't concerned then either.

I started my pregnancy at 198lbs. I was actually advised by my doctor not to gain more than 10-15lbs if possible. I'm now 33 weeks and have gained about 14. I'll probably go a little bit over, but its mostly baby weight at this point-and I lost 65lbs once before, I can lose whatever else I need to once the baby is born. My doctor is very happy with my progress. Keep your doctor in the loop and you'll be fine.

As long as the doctor says it's okay then it should be fine. I'm also in the same position, with losing weight during pregnancy. I was 260 a year ago and I got down to 200 about 2 days before my positive pregnancy test. But I'm still considered obese at 5'5 so I'm planning on gaining 15 pounds during this pregnancy which my doctor has also approved. Though most people think I'm insane, but I feel that pregnancy is the perfect time to eat healthy and lightly excersize, NOT an excuse to overindulge. So as long as you and your baby are healthy then you should go for it

I'm just eating healthy and walking a whole bunch mostly chasing my 2 year and 7 year old around. I finally got out of that morning sickness phase except for once in a blue moon. Another thing I'm doing is keeping those dumb dumb suckered around so that I can throw one in my mouth when I'm not hungry but have a craving to snack on stuff.

If your doctor says it's ok, then you're fine. Maybe just don't advertise it to other people since they likely won't understand. As long as the baby is growing and both you and baby are healthy, then you're good. You just shouldn't starve yourself to do it. I'm 16 weeks and I've lost weight (not intentionally), but my doctor says everything is looking great and not to worry.
