Ive had 2 baby boys this is my 3rd pregnancy a girl *yay* lol my 1st I was 18 2nd 26 & I'm now 31 both my boys were natural just gas & air, had them both 4 hours after getting to hosp :)  the gas & air is great as thos contractions get more intense.try not to worry about it, its just like u have an upset tummy & lower back ache at the same time lol thas the only way I can describe the feelin of contractions! Once u feel something like this every half hour or so u no its started! I called my hosp to tell them & they told me to come in when contractions were every 10 mins thas wen they r more intense u will feel the need for gas & air!  u 2 shud  call ur hosp wen u think 'it' has started so they can advise u wen u shud come in- as im uk so may be a lil diff where u r...also depends how far from ur hosp u r! U will be fine :) wen the time comes u will just no! If u dont think u can handle it then u cud always tell the docs when u go in u may want something to relive the pain so they can advise u of wen is the right time to have certain drugs, good luck with everything :)

Hi there, ive given birth twice! First time round I was19yrs old and had an epidural, it took me 1 hour to push my son out as I couldnt feel a thing. Second time I opted for just gas and air and although it was painful It was not as bad as I had feared, my body took control and I was able to deliver my daughter with ease and within 5hrs from start to finish. I understand yr fear as you are doing this for the first time however as the lady previously stated our bodies are made for this and I the gas and air took the edge off the pain and during the final stages of labour your body gets an overwhelming urge to just PUSH!! And once the baby is out the pain disappears...I hope this helped. (Im only 5 weeks but intend on giving birth with just gas again, fingers crossed) :0)
