My daughter will be 6.5 by the time baby comes! Its a big gap but hopefully that will make it easier than say having two in diapers! Plus while she is in school I'll have one on one time with baby just like I did her.

My oldest will be 13 in november.  Youngest is 11. They are 18 months apart.  I loved having them so close.  However,  I'm now 23+3 with my third.  So there is a gap of 11 years.  One of the main perks is the amount of help the older two will be with this one,  hopefully..

My oldest will be 10 and my youngest will be 6 before our newest baby is here. I know big age gap I hear omg you are crazy for starting over constantly but I think they will both be a huge help once he/she gets here. Good luck!

I have a 10 year age gap between my 2nd and 3rd! But its great, both my older kids love helping out with their little brother, and i get to spend all day with my baby while they're at school. I have 3 years between my first 2, and i planned it that way so my oldest was toilet trained and a little more independent before a new baby came along. I think 5 years age gap is absolutely fine, enjoy it!

My daughter will be 5 when this one is born.  We have been trying for ages and had always wanted a small age gap,  but it just hasn't happened that way. .. I think now that this is a good  age gap through as my eldest is now at school.

My daughter is 7 1/2 and I'm 28 weeks pregnant now. I've thought about this too. But I agree with the other comments, seems like you'll have better help with the baby having another older child. I figure it will be easier this way.

My son will turn 7 a month after I have my baby. I was always thinking they wint have a close bond when they get older but we'll see. He really wants a sibling bc hes an only child so he's going to love it and be a great help.

My first will turn 7 around a week after this one gets here. I'm enjoying the age gap. He is excited and understands that I will be paying the baby a lot of attention inthe first few weeks. He also understands that this is not pushing him out of the way. I also live the fact that he will be at school during the days and I can have the one on one with bub then we can still do 'our thing' when he gets home. He is old enough to help and also to amuse himself.
I think it all depends on how you address and treat the idea of another little one coming into the family.
We have written up a 'big brothers jobs' chart.... Most done by my son.
I've also bought a big brother brag book, it's a keepsake photo journal and its all for him to fill in. I'm not touching it. It's the little things that are remembered.
