alcohol?

Does anyone else drink a little bit of wine after the 1st trimester? What are your thoughts on that? I have always been told a little bit doesn't hurt

I'm a bit worried now. I haven't drink anything since I found out I was pregnant at around 4 weeks, but I drank some wine in those 4 weeks that I didn't know I was pregnant!  I'm 20 weeks now. Do you guys think the baby will be fine? I'm also against drinking while pregnant (just my opinion) , but worried now I could've caused damage to bub in those first 4 weeks.

I haven't had a sip at all, my whole pregnacy.  I am planning on breastfeeding, so no drinking for afterwards either. My baby girl has had trouble gaining weight so I don't want to cause her any more underdevelopment. But that said my friend who just gave birth this pass Sept. would have a glass or two of wine here and there through her 2nd and 3rd trimaster, and her baby girl was very healthy 9 lb 8 oz :-) so I am guessing its up to you momma. If your having a healthy pregnacy and your baby is healthy, a glass couldn't hurt♡best wishes♡

I would say looking more into it there's much more evidence that NO amount of alcohol is safe. It's so worth it to just say no

I never would, and people can rarely stick to the extremely minimal amount of low alcohol things that it's just too much often. I understand though that some women do and would rather let them know to keep it extremely minimal because some women would give it up.

Ya there is no way I will being drinking a whole bottle but I will probably have half a glass just cause I love the taste of wine. And the relaxation of it is much needed. Ya woman did crazy things while pregnant for thousands of years and we are still here lol sometimes I think today's research and technology is just too much.
I am glad this didn't get into a screaming match I really appreciate everyone's sincere input.

My mom had six healthy kids, but she said that she drank one bear when she was pregnant with my sister and she was born with webbed toes. She said that she doesn't know for sure if that is what did it, but she's always felt guilty from it.

I've heard only red wine was ok I'm not sure why i think it has something to do with cleaning out toxins better idk. But that's just heat say. I say you know what's best for you and your baby as long as you don't over indulge I don't see a problem with it.

I'm sorry I don't beleive that anyone's child got fetal alcohol syndrome from not even a full glass of wine everyday unless you know of something that no one else does. I have researched and read studies and have never heard of thos, not even in an opinion form. Women have been drinking while pregnant for thousands of years. Not drinking while pregnant is a new thing. I'd take a guess that in the past women did not get wasted off thier a$$ like the ones whose children develop fetal alcohol syndrome do now.

I am almost 18 weeks and I have a glass of wine once a week probably maybe less it just depends .. I have to big healthy boys five years and a one year old and did the same with them I think moderation is key and if you don't have any other health risks you will probably be just fine... I'm not a DR. So I'm not saying its safe its just a personal choice / risk... I felt like it was OK but some people might look at you like your craZy ;)

I have had sips of stuff here and there but when it comes to drinking a glass or more I feel bad I can't bring myself to do that.  I think if it's going to give me a buzz image how my baby feels.  I have heard both to that it's perfectly fine and some people say its not.  I am sure if you have a glass or two you will be fine

Glad you didn't get anyone screaming at you for this post!  I don't drink but that more so because I'm not really a fan of wine or beer, but a little wine here and there I think is fine.  Just don't go overboard which I'm sure you won't!

In new Zealand there has been lots of research and its a big no no. Even a small amount is hurting ur baby. Alcohol goes straight into ur bloodstream and ur baby is getting all its nutrients from ur blood stream. I personally feel its a small sacrifice to make to get a healthy baby it's only 9 months.

You know what also happens ladies?  Once you have the baby, you are not going to want to drink very much.  I had a glass and a half after my son was born.  I got a tiny buzz and went to hold my baby and was like "OMG".  Not a good idea.  Someone has to be sober and of complete sound mind when you have a baby.  Then, even with that little bit, I got a headache.  That cinched the deal and I'm pretty much a nondrinker now.  Kids kind of kill the buzz.  :>)

I can't remember what week, but late second trimester or early 3rd trimester is usually when they say you can enjoy a small glass of red wine with dinner or something. I was a daily drinker before i got pregnant, so after about 25 weeks I would occasionally steal a few sips of my fiance's beer. I enjoyed my first glass of wine a couple nights ago at 34 weeks. Honestly, I'm just not a huge wine drinker usually. I've heard mixed reviews from different people. My doctor is pretty laid back about a lot of things, so he said a small glass every once in s while with food should be fine at this point. (I'm 34 weeks currently)

I had cravings for beer when pregnant which is hilarious to my husband because I'm not really a beer drinker or much of a drinker at all.  I bought the nonalcoholic beer and would have an occasional one of those.  I got the taste out without the alcohol.

You do hear conflicting reports from doctors.  Some say a half glass or one glass is fine.  I've never heard anyone say their doctor was okay with more than that.  And some doctors want mama's to stay away all together.

So, I'd say the best thing is to just ask your own doctor.  good luck

Ya by Christmas I will be in my second trimester and I will have me a good glass of wine and also for new years. I think there is actually a good amount of antioxidants in it. But that doesn't matter I have had my eye on my fav bottle of wine for awhile now. Honeybee: that wine sounds good I take it its very sweet

I talked to my dr (I know every dr has a different opinion) and he said that there is not enough research on fetal alcohol syndrome to be able to know exactly how much alcohol it takes to cause birth defects...I've heard of women drinking a glass of wine a day while they were pregnant and the baby was fine, I've heard of women drinking not even a full glass of wine during pregnancy and the baby was born with FAS...so I just don't
