almost giving up :(

I had my daughter 6 days ago. Breastfeeding became so difficult, to the point I dread it now. It hurts so much and she seems hungry and unsatisfied  all the time. I pump, from both breast and i feed her after.. she still seems hungry. I met with a lactation consultant about positioning and latching but it still hurts and I bleed! Who ever thought it would be so difficult.

I feel like I'm failing :(

when my daughter was born i had no idea what I was doing!my nan who was a midwife helped me..she used to get the baby rooting so mouth open and shove her on my boob with a very wide latch..she showed me sometimes to flick her bottom lip out do it was getting more..i remember it hurting a little at first and sore when the milk came in..but with her help it wasnt too bad..my mum was no help though even though she breastfed three of us and i felt so pressurized by her..i managed to breastfeed 16months after but i do think id have struggled without help..dont feel like a failure..itd hard!!

Coconut oil b4/while she feeds! Rub it on alll the time!  Get a jar of carmex chap stick and put it on nipples after. (Do this slowly the first time to see how it feels to you)

Check out walmart for nipple gel soothing pads.

Keep trying! It's very difficult for some but it gets better!

(Ftm these are things I've been told by best friends!)

The first two months were torture and I was almost giving up. But then I used an ointment called kenacomb whichb helped me a lot. I was exactly like you dreading the next feed. Don't give up. It's worth it. Praying things get better soon :)

I had pain, discomfort and bleeding, but it did get better! She self weaned at 23 months and I remember the first 6 weeks being the worst. But the remainder of the time was so simple and worth the hard parts. Your doctor will let you know if your baby is getting enough milk based on weight gain. I hope it gets better for you soon!

Breastfeeding IS hard, don't give up, it honestly does get easier and wont be painful given that latch is correct and given a little time! There is always a light at the end of a tunnel, you can do it!!!

Your not failing at all your doing so well. I wish there was a class you could go to whilst pregnant that prepares mums for breastfeeding because it is so damn hard. I have 3 children and have managed to breastfeed 2 baby no 4 on the way and im hoping i can feed again. It is so hard because you feel their not satisfied cos their feeding constantly but the truth is they are feeding properly and it is 100% normal for the baby to be fed from both breasts all the time. When your milk finally becomes established in the next few weeks you will find your baby starts to fall into a feeding pattern. Our milk constantly changes and becomes more filling for them but breastfed babies do feed more often than bottle fed as the milk is completely different. My nipples bled for weeks even with correct attachment and they remained sore for a few month after that and thats what we should be prepared for. I dont want to sound like im forcing you im just offering support but honeslty power through it it honestly does get easier and the reward and comfort is so worth it in the end. Your doing fantastic as you are. Good luck hun xxx

Put the cream on ur nipples before you pump not after. It helped me a ton! The pump just rubbed my nipples raw and after starting that it was sooooo much better.

Thanks for the reassurance. She does feed, but it hurts me so much. It takes her a little while to latch i was thinking about just giving the bottle, it is so much easier. I love when she's getting the breast milk and she's full. Lol but its so much work.
