I'm a dog groomer and get every size dog. I have a pinched nerve in my lower back and talked to my doctor about weight limits and mine is 50 lbs. Before I was handling 160 lb dogs (I'm 5'1 and 126 lbs pre pregnancy) The main risk is injury to your body and it can put stress on the baby. Just be careful and don't push your limits.
Actually, pregnancy is a disability, and in order to get paid and go on maternity leave the paper work is filled as disability for pregnant women, and disability for women who just had a baby...so technically it's a disability....get yourself a new dr... because lifting heavy objects can cause strain and strain causes miscarriage. I suggest you get a new dr. Completely new, different office and everything.
I am not on any restrictions nor have I been. I am 37w today and work on an ambulance always lifting more than 50 pounds. My doctor told me is was worse to change your habits than to continue with the lifiting. I feel great for the most part and I don't have back pain. My only problem is my feet swell from sitting in the ambulance but they would do that if i was sitting at home.
What?!?! That is insane what a dumb doctor. Recheck with your actual docor next time. In mean try to avoid that. Mu doctors office says nothing over 20 of.cam ne helped but im alowed to lift my 30 lb toddler bc hes my kid lol.
If you are used to lifting that amount of weight, unless you are high risk, it is safe to continue doing so. Its the same with working out too-if you work out regularly before pregnancy its safe to continue during pregnancy. If you don't feel comfortable lifting that amount, talk to your supervisors. Most of them are understanding & will make reasonable accommodations. I work full time at a bridal shop lifting & moving dresses that weigh up to 65lbs. I'm now 39 weeks & had no problems.
Just tell ur job it pregnant, they should be understanding enough to not make u do any heavy lifting whether the Dr gives u a note or not. One time when I was 7 mos pregnant my boss wanted me to go underneath every desk in the office to make sure all the personal space heaters were turned off. To which I replied, really, u want me to do that lookin like this?? And he quickly apologized for asking such a thing. I didn't need a drs note for that.. U shouldn't neither. Just saying speak up for urself at work, u might get surprised at how understanding they may be..
Try to avoid lifting anything over 25 pounds and if that gives you any disconfort dont lift things is always your safe bet... my co-works dont let me lift really anything over 15 pounds because 25 pounds couses me disconfort
I told her I went to the ER because of the sharp pains from it and that's when they found the hematoma and placenta previa. I've always been a hard worker and I feel like she was questioning my intentions, my work said I could leave and go back but I want to work, I'm not looking to mooch the system I just want my baby and me to be okay. I feel so upset. I think my work will understand where I'm coming from.
No pregnant woman should be lifting 50 lbs at any time in pregnancy. Sorry for your experience
I'd call the office when your doctor is back and explain it causes pain. If they don't help I'd speak to your work.
Thing is I have GD, placenta previa, and subchoronic hematoma, I've heard with the hematoma you shouldn't lift much, she didn't measure my belly, check my cervix, she only checked my breathing, heart, and baby's heartbeat. I'm just hoping my permanent doctor is better if not I'm going elsewhere. Whenever I do lift 35+lbs I get sharp pains in my lower abdomen. She said lifting 50lbs wouldn't cause me to miscarriage and I should be fine.
I think for now ur fine, but I don't think even ur job will allow u to lift those tanks if they weigh that much when ur further along. My Dr never gave me any restrictions especially since I've been pretty healthy and have already had a prior healthy pregnancy. It's only when the patient is considered high risk that the Dr would say don't do this or that. Other than lifting things my Dr did say do not eat any raw or undercooked foods. That's pretty much it..
That doctor sounds like an ***. That sounds like too much to be lifting while pregnant.
I thought your not suppose to pick up anything after 25-30 pounds <== a small child and thats it. 50 POUND'S IS TOO HEAVY TF
I'm 26 and not high risk at all but my doc told me during one of my first trimester apts not to lift over 25lbs. I don't know if that's normal or not though.
