Just wondering for those who have had the epidural what did it feel like and could you still feel the pain? X

How many cm dilated do you have to be before they can give you the epidural? X

I hate the epidural more than anything. I had it 2 weeks ago when I had my daughter. (I'm a jumpy person ) and I was having really bad contractions when I got it along with my water leaking out by the gallons. The man couldn't get it in right and I could feel it scraping ny spine. Anyway long story short it took 30 minuets for it to be over and it didn't do anything but numb my legs.

It wasn't that bad to get put in, they numb you first and it feels like a pinch. It worked immediately for me. You can sometimes feel the contractions but it's nothing like full on.

It felt like an electric shock at one point. I was mostly feeling the painful contractions and trying to breathe through them and not move. It was very painful when he was done and felt like I couldn't talk or move for a few minutes. I was induced though so my experience might be different. I still felt a lot of back pain even though my legs were very numb. It was still painful even with the epidural.

It made it so my contractions weren't as painful but I still felt pretty much everything. It was like that with both of my labors. I couldn't have pushed with out it though.... I will be getting another this time around too! :)

I had all good experiences with the epidural I had it 3 times I will do it again it's just a lot of pressure no pain and it's just uncomfortable during contractions and u will welcome the epidural compared to the pain of contractions anything is better than the contractions lol but it's a lot safer than taking drugs during ur labor because it doesn't puts ur baby at risk.

I think it worked pretty quickly from what I remember. Entirely oblivious to the contractions about 10-15 after insertion.

So does it instantly take the pain away after it being inserted or do you have to wait for it to kick in? X

It felt like a bizarre tapping inside my spine when the inserted the epidural for my first. They had to insert it between contractions and the heavs of me vomitting, so I barely noticed the insertion to be honest.

During labor, I didn't feel a single contraction. But by the time I pushed, it had worn off and I felt every stretch, pull, push of my daughter coming out. I also felt the sting of my tear and it was a horrible horrible pain. I can't imagine going natural though sometimes I wonder if it would have felt the same at that point bc it hurt so bad.

Hopefully, baby number two's exit will be smoother!!
