Being induced?

Soo I've been wondering about something. My boyfriend is due to leave out for basic for the marines on February 10th, which just so happens to be the day before my due date. If I told my doctor the situation, would they be willing to induce me so he can be here for his sons birth? Not like two weeks before of anything just like a day or two before he leaves which would put me around 39+4 or around there. Do you think it'd be worth asking my doctor about?

Thank you ladies so much. I will definitely be asking. I'm praying it will work out. I feel a lot more relieved now tho. I was terrified that they were gunna tell me no. For him, I want him to be there the moment our son takes his first breath. I want him to have that memory. I would love to go into labor naturally but its more important to me to have him here.

Yes ask!! My husband had to leave for a month on the ship 3daysbecause after my due date. I was already 3cmand dialated and 8 I forget how much effaced. They gave me a date at first. The earliest they could schedule for was Jan 20 (the day he had to leave) so they said they'll put me on the list. I did get bumped 2 or 33 times. Because of emergency c-sections and women going in, in labor. But I was induced and had her on my due date Jan 16. So he got to love on her for 3 days. You should wrap baby in something like a t shirt your hubby wears just before he leaves once in a while so baby will know his sent when he gets home:) That's what I did.

If it were me, I'd aim for a week before he leaves if they're willing. Inductions don't always go as planned and could result in ac section which will extend your hospital stay. I'd think you'd want to have the baby and at least get home for a few days before he leaves, kwim?

I'm usually against induction unless medically necessary...but only a few days shy of 40 weeks and before your boyfriend has to leave for a couple months I hope its not an issue for your doc. I definitely think you should ask, it doesnt sound like a crazy request at almost 40 weeks.

Most doctors would be fine with that, talk to them at your next appt. I had a similar situation with my first baby and my doctor was fine with it even though it didn't quite go as planned, my son was stubborn and wouldn't budge until his due date
