A really easy to read awesome book " So that's what there for, breastfeeding basics" by Janet Tomaro. I agree with abbb01 I don't know why anyone would choose not to breastfeed unless for a medical reason. All research shows it is the BEST for your baby! It can be hard the first couple weeks, ask for help from a lactation consultant!
Where I live there's a group called the La Leche League. Its for moms who want breast feed and for moms that are. Its a support/information group. I'd see if they have one in your area. Its nation wide. :)
I breastfed my second. My first didnt latch well and I had inverted nipples and all we tried, sheilds and pumping and all couldnt get my milk going enough for her before I dried up. I feel I really missed out on bonding with her as bc it was bottles everyone else said I got to feed her enough and fed her instead so she isnt as attached to me or comes to me for comfort as much as my second. It was the best just sitting with my second, uninterrupted staring at eachother and being close. Make the decision that is right for you but it is bc these experiences that I will be nursing my third.
Talk to a lactation consultant if theres one around the one at my hospital helped alot. I absolutely no regrets about bf im so glad I did despite pain n soreness and once some bleeding but hey thats pregnancy n birth too! I hope I don't offend anyone but I don't understand y anyone wouldn't bf unless they just don't produce or have meds they need to be on and shouldn't bf. It's built for baby and its free! Just remember its a learning process for u n baby it does take time the latch is everything. I would also add don't skip feedings mastitis ***** and maybe have a backup pump uf ur workin full time like I did and don't be afraid to sternly say NO the first time they bite my son bit me only twice and learned to stop. It's a personal decision but if u can I highly recommend it and good luck
Some times it hurts. Like when you first start nursing, though that is short lived and its only because baby cluster feeds the first few days. Then when and if you get engorged, all you need to do is hop a hot shower and hand express. And then when baby teeths, you may get bitten. Over all though it is painless, enjoyable bonding time, and best for baby. I nursed all of my kids until they were 2years old. The extra year was ro help boost their immune system
I have with 2 boys, now with this one coming gonna do it too!! =)
I would love to breast feed my princess when she come but some people say it hurt so I'm thinking what i should do maybe both
