why a baby shower?

I understand at a baby shower you get a lot of things for the baby but I am selfish I am the one carrying the baby going through all the pain and sickness how come no one ever has a party to pamper the mom to be's?

This is my third child and I have been on bedrest since thanksgiving. The only time I get out is when I go to the doctor.  I am so tired of being sick and pretty much alone my husband works long hours so it's just me and the kids most of the time and I just want to feel appreciated and be pampered because I know when the baby comes I won'thave time for me.

I was thinking the samething. I got all my babies stuff, but I need some attention :-/

@314rae you just reminded me of the episode of friends where they throw a shower for Phoebe since she's carrying her brother's triplets, except since she won't keep the babies so they all buy her stuff like tequila and leather pants.

Lol very true its no longer time to be selfish...Everything I think now involved my baby..which im fine with im so blessed and happy for him.

I got two gifrs for me at my shower. But having a baby means the come first.
