baby shower?

Would it be lame to have a baby shower with no games? I was planing on having some but since my fiancé thinks the things he "wants" are more important and i wont have the money to buy the rest of the things i need I'm just going to throw something together with what i already have. So i was thinking i can have just a get together cookout but with the baby shower decorations and baby shower cake..? Do you think that will be ok, or would it be too boring?

It can be, especially if you have particularly funny friends/relatives. I've got a family of smarta$$es, so I'm looking forward in seeing some of the funny sayings they come up with, haha

There are a couple ideas you could do that are not games, but involve the guests.

One could be where you have everyone write their "predictions" of baby weight, height and birthday when born. It's always fun to read some guesses, especially with the weight. Plus, you could put those in the baby memory book if you plan to do one.

Another one of my favorites is where guests write funny, uplifting, or encouraging messages on diapers for those late night changings when you are getting most discouraged. Those can put a smile on your face, even when you're tired and feeling hopeless. I remember writing one for a friend of mines that said: "Don't worry, one day she'll be changing your diapers!"

Both of those don't require "prizes" and let's your guests have a personal interaction with you and the baby. Just have fun with your baby shower and good luck with the rest of your pregnancy!

I hate games so I didn't have any at my shower.  We had a buffet dinner,  opened gifts/drank punch, and had coffee and dessert. It was very laid back,  but that's how I am. It wasn't boring at all. Gave me more time to interact with my guests and to talk about baby.
We still had fun :)
