I'm getting my tubes tied I'm 27 and wanted them tired at 22 after my 2nd but because I had my daughter early and ir has to be 30 days after u sign paper I didn't want to go in for surgery a month after giving birth. So I got on the mirena worked GREAT just when it was time to come out string went up so I had to be put under to be removed so that's the only that sucked and got pregnant the first time we had sex after waiting the 2 weeks from the removal. I'm just fertile mertile like my mom lol

Breastfeeding is a great form of birth control too! And it's totally natural. For more info, check out my journals under my profile. I have one specifically about breastfeeding as a form of birth control!

I'm using nothing. I took the pill for 10 years and got pregnant 2 months after quitting it. I don't want to go back on hormones and we want at least 2 more babies before we're done, at which point Hubby offered to get snipped, so we'll just take what comes.

I'm doing paragaurd for now because our two little ones will be less than two years apart. IF we decide to have more, we want a much bigger gap. If not hubby will be getting snipped a few months before the iud comes out!

I'm definitely getting the Paraguard since its the only method of non hormonal birth control available. I would get my tubes tied but my sister mentioned she wanted that done and then suddenly she had to have a c section even tho she was still a couple months away from giving birth and there was no medical reason. I think alot of drs push c sections now because they can just make an appt for that on their schedule and there's no waiting around for labor, it's easier on them. And this way they could pad the bill with the cost of my sisters tubal ligation surgery. I don't want a c section unless totally necessary and I don't want an operation and I also don't like hormonal methods of birth control because I feel they are unnatural and totally mess up my moods and weight. So paraguard it is!

I am using Nuva ring. It worked well for me and only took me 5 months to be able to get pregnant again after 4 years of using it. I wasn't planning on getting pregnant I just stopped using it. After we have our two or 3 my husband is getting a vasectomy.

Some hospitals, especially those that are church run (there's one my mom goes to in Missouri completely run by nuns and the catholic church), that consider a woman getting her tubes tied as a mutilation and against God... anyone wanting their tubes tied there are straight up told to get out bc they feel it's just as bad as abortion. My mother was told after her 5th child "preventing a birth is just as horrible as ending one. You take what God gives you or you get out and don't come back." She ended up going to a local clinic where they basically butchered her. My father started cheating after that and I ended up with more siblings... It was a mess. But yeah, a lot of hospitals will force their ideals on you and if you don't have coverage elsewhere, you're pretty much done for.

Wow that's crazy that they won't allow it, I can kind of understand how they don't want you making a brash decision, however if you are having a baby I believe you should be considered adult enough to make such a serious decision

I'm the oldest of 12 kids and ended up having to raise 9 myself... I've had more than enough of large families. 3 kids is the max I'm willing to go. Lol

Knufrio the hospitals my dr delivers at wont do it until I am 30 even though I am having baby #3 and I am 27. My doctor understands I want it done and would have no problem with it but they wont let her unless its medically necessary, which it isnt right now. Planned Parenthood will do it, but I wont have insurance by then to cover it and I don't want to have an additional surgery after baby unless its the last resort. I know it would be easier for my fiancé to get snipped, but I do not want to ask him to make that decision. If something ever happened between us I already have 3 kids and would be done, but I think he should have the right to have more if he chooses...

@knufrio, some places don't allow you to get your tubes tied until you are 25+ or have had at least 2 children. It's the same at my hospital and a couple others that I used to work at. Their reasoning is that you may want kids later so they won't do it and prevent a child from being born.

Depo and the patch made me gain weight. Pills made me puke... only thing that worked for me was nuvaring but I only ever used it t try and regulate my periods. I won't be using any birth control just a calendar.  :P

We think we are done after this one (#2) but I'm not comepletly sure so I'm doing the IUD which I had after my first... I loved it and had it for 2 1/2 years... took it out on Oct. 28 and conceived Nov. 11 so if we want another in a few years I'm hoping it goes the same way... if we are done in a few years hubby is getting a vasectomy

Sprmom87 what do you mean you aren't old enough to have your tubes tied? One of my friends got pregnant (completely unplanned) and never ever ever wanted kids so when her son was born she has her tubes tied at the ripe old age of 23

I did Paragaurd after my second since I was breastfeeding and it is hormone free. This time I am looking into a permanent option and since I am not old enough to have my tubes tied I am going with Essure and a round of depo until the seal on my fallopian tubes are completely sealed.
