breast feeding

I'm planning on pumping milk for my baby boy.. My goal is to do 6 months but I don't want to actually breastfeed. Will I still burn calories? Its not a big differences is it?, if I pump or breastfeed?

Oh and when I pumped I could feel my stomach tighten and contract a lot as I did it and def think that really helped me get back in shape! I never had a chance to breastfeed directly so not sure if that's the same feeling u get when u do.

I pumped every 2 hrs... Then it went to every 4 hrs. U pump just as much as u feed the baby. Its been so long now since my son is now 12. I didn't have the chance to b with him cuz he was in the hospital the first 3 months but pumping is def the way to go! If this baby doesn't latch on or I have probs breast feeding then I will def pump again. And I think from what I've been told is that ur nipples don't get as sensitive when u pump. Just make sure u stay very hydrated. I enjoyed pumping and don't think anything is wrong with not feeding directly from the breast. The point is that u r giving ur baby the "good stuff" lol.

I plan on doing the same. I want to give my baby breastmilk, but not actually feed directly from the breast. How often must you pump? Im a ftm so it's all new to me

I think its great either way cuz ur giving the baby the best food to grow. Yes u will lose calories. With my son I had to pump only cuz he was born premature at 25 wks. I was happy to do so cuz I knew he was getting what he needed. I did that for about 7 months. He's perfectly healthy now :) good luck and congratulations :)
