breast pump in hospital?
Hi I'm 32w #3 but Ive never breast fed before..I'm just writing a list of things I need to pack in my hospital bag & was wondering if I will need to take my breast pump with me? I'm planning to both express & feed her myself :) I'm UK BTW
I've never needed the pump in the hospital. I even had csections and my milk never came in until I got home.
When I had my last child (7 yrs ago) I strictly breastfed in the hospital and when my breast became too full they gave me a manual pump to relieve done of the pressure.
Plus your milk will not come in for a couple of days,,,

You do not need to bring a Brest pump. It will be your and baby's first feeds. You Brest can become very sore. There is no need for extra pressure on them at this time. I would sugest waiting a couple of weeks to do the pumping, as it dose require a set time as when you Brest feed its kinda a routine thing. If you are off routine, you will have sore boobs and a wet shirt. Get home and on to a good solid routine and then plan when you choose to do the pumping.
I have brest fed all 3 of my babies. I strictly brest fed 2, and tried the bottle and Brest feed my 3. My third so far will only take juice in his bottle. I was going to strictly brest feed him as well, however when he was born he was jaundice so I gave him a bottle of Brest milk with some extra vitamin in it to help the jaundice. I then stoped with the bottle as we started to strictly bf as he started having a hard time with the boob. Funy how that came to be considering i only gave him one tinny bottle a day. Now I have a problems with my brest so Ive been tring to get him back to taking a bottle. With the baby im having now.I am planing to do it a bit different. Hopefully mybrest will get better soon.
