If ypu buy used just make sure all the attachments are new
Either way you will be buying parts. Never use a used pump without replacing the flanges and tubes.
Breast pumps are not all covered by insurances... make sure to call and find out... I found out insurance companies cover them so I called mine... Unfortunately, mine does not cover it :( which in all reality is fine because I have one
I bought a used one for my last baby and will use it again , worked perfect! Just change the tubing and equipment.
Breast pumps are covered by insurance, so you can get a new one. If you do buy used, make sure you check it for mold and buy all new parts. The tubing flanges and membranes shouldn't be shared.
Check with your insurance company. Many of them will now cover a new breast pump with your Dr's prescription.
With a medela, I would either get one new or rent one that was professionally sterilized. Medela pumps have something called an open system, so milk gets in the tubes and motor unit. Some other brands have a closed system where milk never comes in contact with anything but the collecting apparatus, so you would just have to replace that part if you got a used one.
New or use it doesn't make a difference as long as the use one works properly. ..
