breastfeeding question

So this is my first and I'm wondering how soon can I pump? Or do I HAVE to breastfeed for awhile before pumping? I have weird OCD anxiety and the thought of breastfeeding seriously terrifies me so I has hoping I could pump from day one so my child can still have breast milk without me having a panic attack.

Yes you can pump from the beginning. Look up exclusively pumping or EPing on the Internet for some tips on how to do it and what you'll need to do. It's harder but if you want breast milk for your baby and breast feeding is not something you want to do I say go for it and give it a try.

When my son was born I was having an issue with him staying latched however I found out later on I had a real fast letdown and just being born it was to fast for him so the nurses had me hand express and that wasnt working well and my son lost to much weight so they brought me the pump and bingo I had milk already at 1 day and was pumping ounces so I fed him breastmilk from bottle at 2 days old he gained weight right away and when I went home I continued to nurse and would pump every 2 hours or nurse which ever one if he didnt eat id pump and adventually he got use to nursing and qoykd not take a bottle anymore so I just nursed but u can definitely pump right away but it will cause your milk to come In more and can get engourged quick so make  sure u relieve it weather its pump or nurse. Good luck

Absolutely you can pump from day one. You won't get much until your milk comes in (usually day two for me), but it won't hurt baby. It will also hep you get your supply up. HOWEVER, usually the first two weeks your nipples tend to be on the sore side (from being used more than ever) and can even crack and bleed if you don't get the latch right. Make sure the nurses help you with that until you've got it, and you may want to hold off on too much pumping until your nipples have gotten used to your baby.
