That is something to definitely consider. I did not know you could request that. Thank you everyone!
it is not uncommon to need blood after any major surgical procedure, and c-section qualifies. many people need blood after a regular delivery too.
i'm going to have my mom (we have the same blood type) do a directed donation in case I need it, c-section or vaginal.
You can always have someone that you trust with either universal or same blood type as you, do a directed donation. I have to have a c-section and my husband and I are the same blood type so he did a directed donation on my behalf. So if I need blood I get his. You have to ask the blood lab at the hospital for their suppliers phone number and inquire about it. They need a certain amount of time to test the blood an store it so it usually has to be at least a week ahead if time. Something to think about since you already know you might need a blood transfusion.
My best friend had to have a transfusion. She didn't know ahead of time, but had some huge clots coming out of her woman parts right after surgery. She had to have a couple pints of blood.
