choroid plexus cyst found on baby's brain

Has anyone had this happen? My Dr office called me after the ultrasound because a cyst was found on my baby girls brain. They had me come in and do a quad screening, which makes me nervous because that test has a lot of false positives, I have read up on these cysts and it is suppose to be very rare for a babyto get trisomy 18... the oonly abnormalities in the ultrasound was the cyst. I am freaking out and have a week to wait on results...

I didn't have any sign of cyst on any sonograms but I had what appears to be a false positive for trisomy 18 with this pregnancy (39 weeks 1 day). My quad screening came back positive so I had a sonogram done at the hospital for maternal fetal medicine. The sonogram came back normal but for me it wasn't enough comfort so I opted to have another blood test called a NIPS test which test the blood in your placenta. The NIPS test came back all clear. I won't really know 100% until he's in my arms but, I feel confident he's a healthy little boy. I hope the best for you and your baby. Maw4389, I'm so sorry for your lost. I know that had to be rough and I'm sure still is. Hope your pregnancy this time is uncomplicated.

My baby had a choroid plexus cyst on his 19 week ultrasound. We also did the quad screening and it came back negative. If it's positive for you, the only way to know for sure is to do an amniocentesis and look at baby's chromosomes to see if baby has an abnormality. Try not to worry too much, I freaked out personally. We did an ultrasound at 24 weeks and the cyst was gone! Baby was due yesterday and is doing great!

Sorry but Trisomy 18 isn't as rare as you think. My first baby was stillborn at 8 months due to that condition. The quad screening was actually right for me. Her abnormalities weren't noticed til the last ultrasound just days before she died. She didn't have cysts on her brain though.
