condoms during pregnancy

So my hubby n I haven't been able to have sex since we got prego in Oct bc I'm a hi-risk & was taking progesterone suppositories.  Doc said it was off limits. Now, we are good to go lol Hubby & I thought it'd be "safe & less messy" if he used a condom so his sperm doesn't cause any infection -- or maybe we're just paranoid? We've only done this once. It's the weekend and I can't talk with my nurse until Monday.  And I don't have immediate reasons to feel concerned or having symptoms. We just want to know if he should continue to use them or not? I have no allergies. Is latex safe? What brands are safe? Any moms have info to share on what not to do or to do before/during/after sex? RUDE or smart-aleck comments not needed!!!

You have to go pee after because your body produces a natural "clog" so you don't urinate during an orgasm and if you don't pee after you will get a uti from something your own body produces. Look it up its one of our weird sex facts! But sperm is safe even if it is a little icky.

I knew I wasn't alone! Lol sperm makes me gag! And yes sperm is needed to get prego but before I needed it and now I don't.  And the mess & smell?? Eww! I get mad at my hubby lo that's why he suggested we use condom. So that why we thought condoms were ok. And why should I have to go pee and clean up of it's his mess? That's my op. Now im just interested to learn how sperm is beneficial according to some responses. Glad some of you ladies agree/understand me. Thanks for all ur help, mamas!

I have wondered if they are safe during pregnancy also due to the fact everytime I have to clean up I almost throw up and start gagging..May sound stupid but it bothers me during pregnancy. I feel for my husband because just the thought of it makes me sick and not want to do it.

sperm is safe and actually really good for you during pregnancy. it increases secretions in you vagina to help with keeping it flushed and clean...i have never heard of sperm causing an infection unless again like others have mentioned your partner  already having an infection  or std(so your completely  safe in that respect) and yes peeing after sex is always a good idea pregnant  or not to avoid a uti. sperm also helps rippen and soften your cervix which will not put you in labour at all but will help things progress faster once in labour. so reconsider putting  up with the mess it might mean a quicker  labour for you ;)

Ok I feel better knowing I'm not the only one who thinks of the mess but sperm can cause infections just to let you know. So yes use condom it's safe and if not clean up after. Even without std sperm is an outside fluid from an outside source though extremely rare at times sperm can cause just every day bacterial infection. Like I said extremely rare but it can happen. If you are prone to getting infections then please use a condom and/or wash up after sex. Basic wipe down of vaginal area and flushing with water you should be fine.

Me and my partner use them, I'm the reason why and the simple reason is the sight of *** makes me feel sick lol yes I know I got preg and all that lol but it's less messy too why should I have to wipe out his mess every time we get jiggy lol x

The only thing you need to worry about with having sex with your husband at all is to make sure you go pee shortly afterwards so as to not get a uti. Sperm doesn't cause any infection unless there is an std present in said sperm. Which in your case its perfectly safe.

I dont think people are saying he has an std they are simply just saying thats only reason sperm would be a harm to your baby so if he has no std then you dont need a condom..sprem will not harm baby whatsoever

None of us were saying you do, only that that would be the only need for it.

My hubby & I (and I repeat myself) simply used a condom thinking it would protect the baby & myself & be less messy now that I'm prego. Not bc He or I have an STD!! Smh.

Like everyone one else said unless he has std's there's no need for condoms and the sperm actually helps your cervix in the long run

Baby ia perfectly protected. There's a plug that keeps baby safe from everything unless there's an std.

Yea, his sperm isn't going to cause an infection unless he has some sort of std.  Otherwise, sperm is perfectly safe, besides ur already pregnant so u def don't have any other worries there.  Go for it.

I wouldn't use them.  It's not like your not pregnant.  I mean you can if you don't like the mess. It's really up to you.

Unless he has infections or STDs there is no need for a condom.
