washing his clothes.

alright alright so in between moving into our new place and working. the last thing i looked forward to is washing my babies clothes before he gets here. i have four more days until his due date and I'm just washing his things.

since i bothered i wiped down the washer machine w. baking soda. where i live i would have to use a laundromat ugh so im at my moms in the acreage. over here she has no dryer. so everything has to get hanged up on a clothesline. double ugh.

i washed newborn up to three months a bath towel and a crochet blanket. my baby has so much clothes. i refuse to wash his 6months and up.

i just feel like, is this necessary? seriously, i think babies are more resilent than we give them credit for...
dont be too harsh but what do u think?

The only thing is that some countries are a little more lax on restrictions for things. One of those is the chemicals left on new clothes after production that are sold in the US. The amounts are still very small (just more than other countries,) but if your baby has more sensitive skin their skin could get irritated easily in the unwashed new clothes.
However, unless your baby is measuring very large I think you're alright with only 3 months and smaller.  In fact, my first daughter lost a whole pound in the first week and only wore newborn until she was 3 months old. (She was born at 7lbs 6oz.)

I washed mine ahead of time too. Get a fresh clean smell, kill the store germs and so on.

I agree, it is a pain in the butt. Personally  though, I feel it is necessary. Think of it like this, how many times have you walked through a store and touched the clothes and blankets? Did you wash your hands first? I know i dont. People love to feel the softness and textures of baby stuff but they don't go to the nearest restroom and wash up before doing so. If your items came from a store like Walmart where they sell meat, someone could have come in contact with meat blood before touching the baby clothes. I have worked retail and unpacked clothing to put on hangers. There is so much packing dust, lint and excessive dyes on cloth items that my hands would be filthy afterwards. I wouldn't want that on my baby.
I do agree with the comments above, wash a few weeks worth and the bedding. The rest can be washed as you need them.

I would wash a couple weeks worth of stuff and the bedding. But I do think it's important, only because my son has very sensitive skin and he has eczma. My husband put an outfit on him once that was brand new and unwashed, where it rubbed his skin was red and blotchy that night. So just to be safe, you never know how your kid will react.

I agree. No point in washing too many. We need our energy for other things :-)

Don't wash too many clothes bc I was told by a lot of parents that they ended up washing all the baby clothes they had (from newborn to 9 months) and the baby grew at such a fast rate that half of the clothes didn't get worn but they couldn't return them bc they already removed tags and washed it all. I washed some clothes...enough for the first 2 weeks and that's it. Also washed bedding but didn't even think about washing towels and blankets. My mother told me she didn't do all that when I was born but nowadays who knows what comes from where so I'll feel better if I just wash it. I'm also due in 4 days :-)
