contractions and UTI

I recently woke up to sharp cramping and when i stood up, a gush of watery fluid came out. I called my DR and he had me meet him in labor and delivery to be checked. (im 27 weeks) I continued to have cramping while hooked up to a belt to measure contractions (if i was having any) turns out i was having contractions, they checked me for labor and i had no signs of labor other than the contractions, after a urinalysis , it showed i had a urinary tract infection, and that was the cause of my contractions. Has anyone else had/heard of that?

It bothers me that i had no idea, i even googled UTIs and never saw that. Ive had no problems with my DRs office, but i was in for my regular appointment, and forgot to mention my discomfort and then called the next day and the day after went for a urinalysis and got no.call back w results, and then days later i was feeling worse and thats the day i ended up in the hospital. It makes me mad that i never got a call the first time, i cant imagine it wouldn't have shown up then, when id been having the same symptoms days prior to the urinalysis.
