contractions

So I heard contractions feel like when you get your period (cramps) .
I've never had cramps before or during a period.  So am I suppose to just watch your pain in my tummy? I'm 37weeks 2 days and haven't had any.

My first contractions felt like that. It came in my lower abdominal area, right above my pelvic bone. The only way I could even tell that's what it was was because my water had broken a couple hours prior to my first contraction. The first contractions aren't intense at all, but they do progress. If you practice relaxing your muscles from the very start, it makes labor so much more bearable. Labor never really got too hard to handle, the hard part was more not knowing how much longer. By the time I got to the point where I was doubting how much longer I could do it, I felt that urge to push. If you are planning an epidural, you likely will have it long before you get to that point. I didn't have one, so that was why I even felt that much. It was so worth it though :)

With my first I had horrible back labor... Felt like soneone was jabbing a knife into my back and tearing it around my sides...It was nothing like period cramps at all. Every person has diff labor even with diff pregnancies.

I never felt the period cramps while in labor. Everything I felt was in my lower back (back labor) it was terrible. Not sure if it's true but I heard dependsing on babies position determines how bad and where you feel labor pain

With both of mine I never felt the contractions in my abdominal area, drs just said I had a high pain tolerance apparently. I felt them vaginally almost like a burning cramp and in my pubic bone or groin area. I never felt anything until active labor either.

When I went into labor with my first, it felt like period cramps. I would describe them as tightening pains in your pelvic area. I didn't feel them at all until I went into labor at 41 weeks, so the fact that you haven't felt anything is ok. Now, with my second pregnancy, I feel BH contractions regularly since about 25 weeks (I'm now 35 weeks). It's very similar, but they dont occur with increased intensity or regularity.
